Sign Petition to Support Broward Deputy Charged w/Manslaughter (Change.org)

You may find this surprising to hear from a criminal defense attorney, but I support Deputy Peraza 100%. He is the Broward Sheriff's Office deputy recently indicted two and a half years after a JUSTIFIED shooting with an armed suspect.

I believe he is wrongfully accused and I am disgusted by the fact that he is now facing a 1st Degree Felony for doing his job and defending life.

I am posting here to seek your support in fighting back.

Help me send a clear message to Broward County's elected State Attorney, Michael J. Satz, that this type of political prosecution is not supported by the community - especially by those who wear kevlar to work every day.

You can read my legal analysis of the case here: http://www.briansilber.com/2015/12/s...ty-peraza.html

You can read and sign the petition here: https://www.change.org/p/michael-j-s...edium=copylink

Sign it. Share it. Fight for what is right!

Thank you all for what you do to keep our community safe. You have supporters in places you might not ever imagine.

    - Brian Silber, Esq.

I'll wait for the facts of the case to present themselves.

If the reports match the witness statements, photos and other evidence then good to go. If not, then he should be in prison.

The deputy and a detective lied during sworn testimony.

"A witness photograph that surfaced in May showing McBean dead on his back with earbuds in his ears conflicts with Peraza's sworn testimony. McBean's family says the photo supports its contention that he did not hear commands to drop the rifle.

But according to court documents, the deputy testified that it "didn't appear that [McBean] had anything obstructing his hearing." An investigating detective later told McBean's mother the earbuds were found in her son's pocket."

So they're saying this guy, Jermaine McBean, didn't drop his air assault rifle because he had his earbuds in his ears and DID NOT hear the lawful commands of Law Enforcement Officers? What a joke. Just another way to try to bring down another good LEO.

    Good job Deputy Peraza!

    "Air assault rifle"

OK, that invalidates your entire post.

And those earbuds didn't get from his ears (which according to BSO reports were never there) to his pocket by themselves.

I hope you are not employed at FHP.

I am, and I see the absurdity of calling something an "air assault rifle". And I never said I think the Deputy is guilty of manslaughter or not. I simply pointed out that BSO's original report is unbelievable given the physical evidence.

No wonder cops are skeptical about FHP.

Another FHP Tally manager speaks!!! And managers in FHP wonder why our agency is going to hell in a hand basket. Never thought I would say it but now is the time to disband FHP and turn everything over to real law enforcement.
