Marcy's Law
The information given out at this agency was very confusing about this new law. It really has nothing to do with property crimes. It is a was passed so the victims and their family's have equal rights, just like the constitution affords the arrestee/suspects. It is geared toward violent crimes perpetrated on victims, so they and their family's are given rights too, like when an arrestee/suspect is released from jail and the ability to attend their court hearings, ect.....

Very weak info given out by this agency. TPD had the info and dealt with it. Here we get nothing and threatening emails to give the information out, not knowing what it is even about.

When the USF General Council is your "go to" place for Criminal Law advice, these are the embarassing outcomes that we must deal with.
Why cant we just do exactly what our neighboring Police agencies are doing instead of continually embarrassing ourselfs.

Its easier for the overworked (lol) Command Staff member to call the General Council and let them do all the work instead of checking with other Departments. Doing it in this way ensures that they dont have any ownership with the decision G.C. makes. Their self preservation level can remain high, which is always in the back of thier minds with everything they do.

We have to wait for training. Then it will all be fine.

It's not often I side with the department on anything but how hard is it to just do what we're told? We don't need a training for every single thing. Certainly not for when and when not to pass out pieces of paper. Now I do agree that if a larger agency is doing it differently we need to follow suit. We have no right to make up our own shit in a county this big. We really shouldn't be adding sentences to a CRA because USF general council says so? That's an HCSO form approved by the SAO that has autopopulated narratives. Let's just scribble on it with a crayon while we're at it.

Very confused, the way I read it, it has nothing to do with property crimes but is geared towards victims of violent crimes and a known suspect? This is supposed to be put on the CRA? Again, confused about that, because we don't put on the CRA all of the rights we give to the victims of violent crimes.....?

The thing the state sent out says victims of all actual or perceived physical, mental, and something about financial impact or some shit. So it does elude to property crimes. Regardless just copy what the County or TPD is doing and be done with it
