Ignore the above. All departments have their issues. This department has some people with crappy morale from the past chiefs and administration. There is a new chief and a new asst chief who have made improvements. There is more room to improve of course like everywhere. SPPD is a good department, you have to remember that most of the negative people post on this site. The department has 500 cops and about the same 20 cops post on this site. Good luck.

There is still nepotism at this department and preferential treatment but over all it is Nanking minuscule improvements with the new chief. Compared to years, yes, it has improved. No, it hasn't made the mountain high morale change of improvement it needs yet. Small things have changed that were easiest to change. However current chief, as nice a person as his as far as taking points, is afraid to make the large changes that need to be made. But his approval with majority will soon begin to plummet if earth shaking changes aren't made in assistant Chiefs. Otherwise, the dept is good. Ole cranky commies are being drawn out due to their retirements forcing their exists. THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER.

mayday mayday mayday
Some of those ole crankies will be promoted in the merry merry month of May. As I understand it, the promos were going to be announced from the cheaters list on May 1 a/k/a May Day, revered by Socialists and Communists as International Workers Day. Admin went stealth and changed promos to mid-May.
Plus, don't forget about the strange new hybrid of cranky commies. After FD Bro' makes his weekly deposit, we'll talk about it on Random Promos & Transfers.

I would love to be hired by St. Pete. My file is in to be considered for this hiring board, and i think it will be good for the department to have new hires that are hungry to prove themselves and be happy to have a job! I appreciate everyones responses!

To answer your question, a fair guesstimate is 15 new hires.
Chief's Staff Mtg notes 4/23/2015
Currently, there are 11 officers in the FTO program with 2 in phase-I, 8 in phase-II, 1 in phase-III.
The current Academy class has 15 officers. This is for Classes #196 and #197 which just started Monday.
There is a hiring meeting scheduled for March 30.
