    Re: Sheriff to Clearwater

Surely PCSO Administrator has more to offer than "From what I have heard". If he has all the details that are being worked out, why not share them??

Rumors, and I have heard, do not work. If you have facts, share them.

That is rgeat news, sir! Glad to hear things are progressing as planned. This is more reason and motivation for these CPD people to get onboard the train ASAP. The best thing you people can do for yourselves is start enrouraging the PCSO takeover and making public, positive statements about the S.O.
After the mighty wind blows through, you don't want to be one of the malcontents left on the outside wondering "What Happened?"

If any of you PCSO cowboys think Bill Horne and his newly annointed Chief Holloway are gonna give up control of the city of Clearwater to the PCSO, I have some swamp land to sell you, 50 grrr an acre. Get over yourselves.

A resident went to the City Commission to ask why CPD wasn't taken over by the S.O. as a cost cutting measure to the city and it's citizens. The commission wanted to end all specualtion in the takeover and went to PCSO for a final decision so the rumor mill would finally end. As most recall a few years back, it didn't happen then and wouldn't happen now.

A prior post indicated city cars being busy and at times a county car would come in and take priority calls. CPD doesn't have to worry about that scenario because we have 12 distict cars atleast and are no more than a few minutes response time away. And that has no bearing on priority or not. We all agree, once a deputy or CPD Ofc. arrives, the call will be handled with the the highest quality of service. But let's not even try to sell the fact that once taken over, there is no way in hell the Sheriff is going to staff each of the cities three districts with the same amount of officer's. Besides a helicopter and a boat there is nothing more PCSO can provide that the city needs. It will clearly be up to the genius politicians. The city is not going to PCSO because they provide better service, it is all about the money, so we can all stop arguing over who's better cause you'll never win that battle. Good luck to us all.

Besides a helicopter and a boat there is nothing more PCSO can provide that the city needs. Oh and prisoner transport, crime scene processing, property and evidence, dispatch, records and fleet maintenance.

    They forgot to mention:
professionalism, experience, toughness, and the prestige of being one of the top agencies in America.

The best thing about disbanding? Getting rid of all the civilian employees. Everyone is sick of the secretaries who think they run things. Here's a clue: you're just secretaries. We can get some temp workers to come in and learn your jobs in a week. You are not as important as you think. You know how the brass like to tell you how valuable you are and how the place couldnt run without you? Theyre lying! They just want to make you feel good so you dont whine and complain about your simple little jobs! Get over it and get over yourselves already!

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this post. Um, hate to bust on ya pal....but apparently the Sheriff can replace you in about a week also... You may want to curb your tongue just a bit. We are all replaceable.

    Re: Sheriff to Clearwater

Hmmm, lets see... The Chief was easily replaced. Captains retire and move on and they're replaced, Lt's Move up and are replaced by Sgts...and unless you spend your entire career humping calls and never passing a Sgt's test, after you retire, a rookie comes in fresh out of the safe world of the Academy and takes your place...for less money. You're not all that, trust me.

It's going to all boil down to finances. If you personal finances had fallen on hard times, and your car payment was $450 a month - yet you had an offer to get a like vehicle for $250 a month - would you take it?? Apples to Apples, Blue Uniform to Green - everyone does the same job - what it boils down to is if the same services can be done for less money....and that's allllll the City cares about.

Look around at closed City owned buildings, people who lost those jobs. Foreclosures in just about every street, court, avenue. Why would CPD be immune to cost cutting?? Great agency, but you're not made of gold. Law Enforcement agencies around the nation have been laying off for the past few years...you guys are lucky you've sustained your jobs this long. Talk to other LEO's in other states who were pink slipped and uprooted their family to move across the country for another LEO job...it's happening everywhere and has been...you guys have escaped the radar this long, consider yourselves lucky. Who cares what uniform you wear so long as you still have a job and can provide for your family??

    ...just saying.
