    OK, Now What?

    http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2006/5/6/157503.html

I am waiting to hear the support for SPPD from Uhuru, NAACP, Go Davis and Eric Deggans for their work in improving Child's Park with these arrests.

I'm sure they will voice their support for the arrest of drug dealers, won't they?

Surely they will call a press conference and assembly to aplaud the efforts to rid a black neighborhood of the scourge of crack and marijuana.

I'll watch the news, I'm sure it will be anytime now that these individuals and groups make an announcement in support of SPPD.

    Still waiting.

    Now would be good!

Especially now, given the magazine photo saga, the taser incident and Fosters latest, the PD could use some good press.

Good police work should be recognized by these individuals and groups named, lord knows they complain enough. Not in their best interests I guess.

    "OK, Now What?"

NOTHING, as usual! These little publicity round ups are a necessary evil that very few staff members want to see. Its nothing more than to give the illusion that the city is trying to do something about the out of control drug trade.

Reality is that certain areas in the city can't afford to have the drug trade impacted as it is the primary income. Unfortunately, there are too many pockets being lined along the way also. Half of the staff is scared to death to support any aggressive proactive drug enforcement because "something might happen" and the other half has too many personal connections to the players.

The city and staff don't care about the good people who are stuck living in fear everyday because they are so out of touch with reality. The citizens of the high crime parts of the city deserve more. Funny thing is if you ask the good people of those areas, they want more enforcement.

Now the pressure is on to do something about Childs Park. Wow what a revalation...there are problems in Childs Park. Hello!!! that area has been one of the leading sh!t holes for years and ignored every step of the way. It wasn't even included in the weed and seed boundries (of course that didn't matter anyway since GO refused the money because he didn't want to use it to "weed" out the thug dealers....that rehab center sure has had an impact huh GO).

Heres my suggestion. Instead of using tons of money for pedestrian crosswalk operations, how about conducting a long term 24 hour a day aggressive drug operation (remember "Crackdown 89") and don't just use it as a special fund for cpo's to make a few bucks. Let us patrol officers sign up on our days off. Imagine that....a team of officers who actually want to conduct drug operations...can you say X15.

    Your Great Idea!

Is there some way one or more of your officers can suggest your idea, in writing? Typically a response to such a suggestion would be in writing too. That way, at least you'll have some document when someone says "why didn't you do anything?" Seems like a small effort on your part and it makes perfect sense. Why not do it?

Anyone writing a Memo suggesting such a thing would be labeled a trouble maker, as it would be obvious that the person was trying to create public records to embarrass the brass. There was once a standing order not to put things in writing if it could be verbally communicated, for the sole reason of not creating public records.

and no, you would not get a written response. You would be told--we are referring it to the steering committee, where all good ideas go to die.

Soooo, essentially you are helpless, because you don't want to be labeled a troublemaker?

Who is it up to to change things then?

    Voters re-elected Baker.

Must not be too bad if you aren't even willing to be called a troublemaker for standing up for your principles. Guess all of your whining is kind of lame isn't it? As they say, "No Guts, No Glory".

Kind of hard to take you seriously, you know.

Most of these Starbucks sippin Liberal Tree-hugger rainbow flag wavers would die of fright if they knew what was really going on in the halls of justice. Or even just Go's midnight deals.

You think the guy on the corner sellin crack to the 8-year olds is a real turd? You ought to see who is protecting the whole network. PCSO was literally ordered out of those neighborhoods by our leadership. What do you think that's all about?

How come some of the biggest and most obvious drug trafficers are immune from the legal system? Remember something, The war on drugs is a professional sport....a lot of money can buy you a really good sports team. The bad guys bought a nice big team! They got some folks in their pockets that would surprise you ostritches. They seem to always avoid the long arm of the law, too.

You just keep on believing that this is Mayberry.....
