Lame attempt to “retain” deputies. Meetings at roll call with bosses present? Really? Many of our deputies lied on the employee satisfaction survey because out of paranoia because “it’s all traceable” and feared being blacklisted. Blacklisted means a career on patrol. A career on patrol is not possible. How can you expect anyone to be honest in meeting settings? Or is that the point? “Living the dream!” Is that all you are willing to hear? The classic asss kisser response? Or real facts?

Instead of delegating this staffing shortage issue to office workers, why don’t our leaders take action? Put some priority into it like they did body cameras, new vehicles, and a new district. Oh wait, that’s just spending money and buying stuff. Actually talking to people and listening and making real actual sop changes takes time, caring, and balls. Half these outdated SOPs need to go. How about reach out to deputies that have quit? How about bring back the exit interview and ensure there will be no blackballing or bridges burned?

Most all the information they need is on this site. I’m hoping for a “These guys have been mentioning these problems for years and nothing was done” reaction. This staffing crisis hopefully will cause this. This site has had the balls to stand up to this agency in the past and there are no worries about posts taken down, accounts deleted, or exposures like on social media.

Years of the same old issues being mentioned yet the agency acts like it has no idea what’s wrong and why we are quitting. There is a lot of information here that the agency trivializes, yet people are quitting, and they act like they don’t know why. Or worse, they truly don’t know because of the disconnect.

Start with getting us home on time. Give us admin time to do all the crap you demand with all the detail you expect. Stop sending us to half these calls where we have no legal ground to act, yet carry all the liability. Stop using us as mediators, marriage counselors, and mental health social workers. Stop exposing us to unnecessary stress that we have to carry home! Mid shift? We need a full mid shift. We always had. Nothing new. No survey needed. We had a full mid shift for decades. It was done away with ONLY to staff the new D5 that took our mid shift staff away. Mid shift is nothing new. Pay attention! Listen! You leaders have your own secretaries to do your computer work for you. Maybe treat us all like that family member, or good friend, or son, or daughter you got hired and planned on pulling off patrol quickly to keep them safe? Think about that. How about make things better so your sons, daughters, and friend won’t have to get off patrol. Maybe patrol could be made better to the point where it can’t be used as a punishment for naughty detectives and supervisors. Why punish us that were never demoted? The real call takers and first responders.

Sure parts of this job suck. The parts we can’t control. But most of it can be controlled, but the agency refuses to do so. So people quit. It’s that simple.

Start listening. Stop delegating. Keep this in mind, we can’t change that dangers of this job. We have accepted that. We can’t change all the anti cop liberals flocking here. The same people we have to respond to and think for while they hate us. However, deputies are quitting for the things that can be changed. Simple things. The “bull crap”.

And yes, I know, bureaucracy exists in all fields. Bureaucracy, politics, favoritism, and so on… But they are all safe and not putting their lives on the line and not the face off all that is liability. At this job, you can die or go to prison for doing your job. So it’s one or the other. Policing danger and liability minus the bull shiiit OR all the bull shiiit in a safe environment. Here it’s the worse of both worlds, so people quit! How is that a hard concept to understand? Why not phase out the bull shiiit?

HEY HR! You won’t find answers in roll call rooms. You are going to have to care more or at least be smarter than that.
