High Crime area the Las Olas business strip

Why was this not reported to the news immediately? The public must be informed about the high crime rate on this fashionable area.

It ended up on the news. What more do you want, Karen? How about not walking down a dark alley with headphones stuffed in your ears?

The city hesitates on going to the news. It’s bad publicity. Fort Lauderdale relies on tourism and things like this would only scare away visitors. Why else do you think when the show Cop was on tv and it started here in Broward county by the way. They were not allowed to say “filmed in Fort Lauderdale”. Even the parts that were would say pompano or Lauderhill on the screen. The only thing that ever that said Fort Lauderdale was the intro with the beach sign.

If the city gave two shits they would add at least another 50 officers. City has grown so much over the years and staffing has not kept up. Just look at the shot spotter that only covers a small fraction of the city and see how many gun shots it picks up on a daily biases.
