    Exit interviews

What happened to exit interviews? They used to be mandatory. Seems when good deputies wake up, realize they are just expendable disposable meat liability shields for our agency and local government, and quit. They remember their big college degrees, realize there are jobs out there that will see them as non disposable valued humans, and resign. Nobody here seems to care or even ask why anyone leaves other than maybe a low level supervisor. Exit interviews given by command staff to honest deputies that are leaving, especially with how many are leaving, is gold when it comes to making things better. Leaders just have to put your pride aside. And we wonder why morale is dead in the water. More than dead. You leaders see an act when you are around us. I see deputies walking around like zombies when no bosses are around talking about how trapped they feel. Anyone in that position knows full in well that, “Just quit!” Is not that easy or the solution.

I will be emailing mine! Nothing nasty! Just the truth.

At the end of the day, this agency is one of the greatest places to work in. We have had our share of horrible supervision, but even they have heart and compassion; especially those currently in office. It is not as bad as we think guys. Just do your jobs and do it well. Keep your head up and shine within your own circle. Don't become part of the hate. Be kind to one another and show respect to those that respect you, regardless of their rank - they will get the point real quick and speak to you as they want to be spoken to.

If you don't understand why something is not being done correctly - then try to understand why, ask questions. Hold people in your circle accountable for what they say or do to include your supervisors. Give them a chance to explain why before you come on this site and blast them. Some deserve to be blasted because they have been whom they are for ages and will never stop. But, it is best to speak to people face to face. That way they know you mean business.

DON'T get bullied by anyone in this office. I mean ANYONE! Stand up for yourself, in a respectful manner, because no one will stand up for you. Defend what you believe in! Question what does not feel good to swallow. It may be just a misunderstanding, the delivery, or right out fuucked up. Nonetheless, question it until you understand or they can direct you to the source that gave the directive/order.

And if things start getting a little fuzzy face to face because they have a problem with you having them clarify something, or you feel they start bullying you, or nitpicking everything you do as to silence you or take away you voice, then email them and CC your attorney - do everything RESPECTFULLY - speak to people how you would speak to the most important person you LOVE! This is how you hold accountable those that hide behind a desk and make or twist, or add to this agencies written SOPS and directives to serve their egos just like those in professional standards....you know who you are and you know what you have done.

Those that are new in PS, don't become heartless, lack compassion, and be so black and white. Don't let your supervisors force you to do things outside of your character. If it does not feel right, then that means it is not right. Notice how many have left from your department or have been reassigned elsewhere because they defend what is the right thing to do. How can we demand our troops to do the right thing by others when we don't do the right thing by them. Everyone make mistakes and some mistakes/complaints are created to intimidate.

Some of you stay because of the schedule - we all get it. But, don't let coward supervisors or people with the same mindset change YOU. Our command staff may not be so popular with us, BUT they Do NOT lack compassion.

Enough said. To HCSO Warriors and Saviours - be you and be good a what you do. Train yourself and train others with what you have learned. You may dislike some of your zone partners, but they are still your brothers and sisters - PERIOD! Don't let the negative change you. If it is happening to you then you should know how to present your case/defend yourself. In a Respectful manner - don't back down on what you believe is the right thing to do and be ready to defend it!!
And always have an attorney ready that is NOT affiliate our office.

May peace be upon you all and don't fall into the hate. Be you, defend you, and question what does not feel right!
