Passing of our Friend
Sgt. Steve McVay was a long time member of this police force, a dedicated public servant and beloved by the NBV community. He was a good soul whose convictions sometimes found him on the wrong side of the powers that be. His willingness to stay true to his beliefs are part of why I respected him. Like all of us, he was human, had weaknesses and made mistakes. Who among us had not tripped and fallen?.... However, we should never be remembered by our worst moment and McVay's big heart, kindness and dedication to others outshine any dark moment!!! He will be sorely missed and I hope police and Village leadership can look beyond their petty grievances and honor this good man and his generosity to our community.

No
No one deserves to pass early in life due to health complications and hope his family finds strength in the next few weeks. BUT whomever wrote that bilge above was not one of his multiple years of him tripping and falling all over others lives causing pain and anguish for no good reason other then advancement and power!

Mercy
Steve was a great guy and loved by this community. The City cannot show mercy even
in this time of death. The ceremonial badge is
less than $100 and he deserves to be promoted to Lieutenant. Hopefully it will happened one day. It is the right thing to do

Obviously
Obviously you are unaware of the Many Many unfortunate deeds by Mr McVay. He was fired for cause and was subject in multiple investigations that were found to be substantiated. Steve knew what he was doing and for the most part took his punishments like a man. Yes it is tragic news of his untimely death and no one, even the ones he did not see eye to eye with wouldn’t wish this for him.
The Village is in no position to promote or have cause to give anything to an employee that was fired and had criminal charges still pending trial. It was actually a nice gesture to even mention his passing in the websites. We had Sgt Hatley pass and he didn’t get as much and years of retirees that left honorably that didn’t get mention in the same way. Again yes an absolute tragedy for his family but considering the track record that is documented for many years of misguided judgment and his final firing from the Village, sometimes it’s better to stay off the soap box and let his family deal with the next several days and weeks. Whomever started the original post and going to the Village asking for recognitions promotions etc etc was and is seriously lacking reality.

Agree
Agree, whomever started this whole post by going on this public site to beg an employer for recognition and a badge or something is weak. I knew Steve and I can assure you he would not want anything from NBV and would not want anyone asking on his behalf!
