Hiring process
Hello, I am curious as to how intensive the hiring process is compared to other area departments. How long does it take and how do they go about doing a background for an out of state hire? Also, do they compile parts of the process together so out of state applicants can get it all done in a couple trips? Thanks in advance.

Get a job as a rodeo clown. Its safer, better uniform, easier hiring process, and the bulls are friendlier coworkers......and im not bitter.

You are correct and not trying to be a dbag. But there are better places with better morale, better transparency, more movement, less infidelity, less paperwork, less fat people, less favoritism and jealousy. Honestly it may be less pay but try the 3 county departments before this hole.

If you go to cape remember a couple things....
1. Dont listen to the recruiters, few go to a specialty spot withing 8 years. With prior its the same, but again few within 5 years.
2. See above but just bc you are prior you will not move quicker, unless you show you are a stud on the road. You slack off on the road, you are on the same plan.
3.pay is the best.
4. Community loves cops, but be prepared to actually do the work they want.
5. Stats matter. Do stops. Do reports.
6. Actually work for your money and you will be rewarded.
