    New Hire

    Hello all,

Just had some quick questions. I saw on the posting you must reside within 35 miles of TT. Do you get a take home car and if so is it after FTO? How do the shifts work? 10 or 12 hours and how many days a week? Also what are the different start times for the various shifts?

Also when did the 3 year contract come into play?

    Thanks

Wanted to get info on the 3 year contract deal as well. Only contracts I know are for recruits being sponsored. So any clarity in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The only conclusion I came up with is maybe they are having a lot of people leave the agency? Some other departments in the Bay Area that sponsor don't even have contracts. Hopefully get some answers soon. And not just the go somewhere else, or apply elsewhere etc. that you see on every board.

You get a take home car as soon as you are off FTO. The 35 mile rule is for the take home car and is straight line mileage or "as the crow flies". There is a 3 year contract in place for all new hires. Simply put, if you leave the agency for another police department within your first 3 years, you owe back a prorated amount based on how long you stayed and the amount of money invested in your initial training. Officers have left for personal reasons or moved out of the area and were not required to pay back that money. The city is just trying to ensure that you will not just use TTPD as a spring board to Tampa or another large agency.

12 hour shifts that start at either 0600 or 0700 and 1800 or 1900. half the squad comes in at 6 and the other at 7 to help ensure there is always adequate coverage in the city.

Thanks for the info. How many days a week?

Awesome thanks for all the info. Is there anywhere to inquire or find out what the amount is per the contract?
