Lightbulb School District SRO whistleblower under criminal investigation?

Quote Originally Posted by “Ryan McKinnon”

SRO Whyley is now the subject of a criminal investigation.

SRO Whyley said school administrators are retaliating against her for exposing the allegation; she contends that school officials wanted her to keep quiet about the incident because of the damage a teacher sex scandal could do to the school’s reputation.

SRO Whyley’s complaint states: “Officer Whyley had a [legal] duty to report sexual harassment to DCF and to law enforcement and was not required to ask the principal for permission to do so.”

You can thank the Sheriff for disbanding the SRO unit. I’m not saying this would have stopped the crime but SSO would not be bullied by the school staff. A police department controlled by the school board is not a great idea.

There has always been a historical tug-of-war between school principals and SROs. SROs who do not yield their legal authority to the political authority of a principal are eventually transferred or let go. It is similar to the current internal-political wars that "flair up" inside the Sarasota Sheriff's Office. You can thank the current sheriff (Mr. Tom Knight) for pernicious politics in the agency.

You forgot to include "Hitman Hoffman," who has been conspicuously absent, ever since he announced that he wants to be the next Sarasota sheriff. Hoffman's poor legal decisions are following him like poo stains on tighty whities, so now Knight is trying to get a political divorce, due to political blowback.

Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak, and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph and the signs of horror are still in the air.

Lightbulb Title IX – Federal protection from sexual harassment in educational setting

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that is designed to prevent sexual harassment in educational institutions – and failure to do so can cost a school its federal funding. According to DCF, a girl was afraid of being inappropriately touched, again, by Guss – so she asked if she could be moved – but Gruhl and Rojas denied her request.

Gruhl and Rojas also violated state law by not reporting the accusations to DCF as mandatory…

Since Knight pulled the rug out from under his SRO program he can be thanked for the travesty that this new department is.

The egos of you people are amazing. Just because the sheriffs office is not running the show does not mean they are any less. They are just as competent as any one of you. Thank you for not giving into political pressure and money. Sorry your agency has been involved with corruptions and egos since inception. Get over yourselves.

Knight hated kids and the court system, which is why he destroyed the SSO SRO program, as well as why he argued with the chief judge of the 12th Judicial Circuit. Do you remember that infamous court battle? Knight lost!!! Knight's inflated ego is making the Sarasota Sheriff's Office too small for the employees.
