Sir, did you read the bill? It covers that, they want $6 million for two years. Two years in exchange reducing our budget by the same amount. So where are they spending any money?
This is about money, about saving the state money! The state sees it as an opportunity to stop paying benefits, vehicles, liability claims every time we crash into someone to use force etc etc....you name it they can save money in this.

They should absolutely disband fhp and allow the sheriff to hire the troopers in the respective counties.
It would save tons of money to the taxpayers and benefit the public by reducing the time they wait for a trooper to respond to a call for service.
I think this pilot program will start in small areas of the state but can surely spread once they realize the savings.

Same ole tune
They have tried this before and failed at it. Most sheriffs especially north Florida don't want FHP to go anywhere and don't want the headache of working all crashes. Although i am concerned with this due to less than 2/3 of legislature are new, and two sheriffs are trying to take advantage of that trying to make a bigger name for themselves may embolden others.

CopBlocker?? Cop blockers use the words "police state". Based on your statement you are either not a cop or have absolutely no clue what "police state" means. For the love of God look up the factual definition of police state. Urg.
On another point, I agree that FHP is not going anywhere. It may be changed from its currents state but with the work of the DL fraud, CIU, and DOT, there is a need for those units. The front line troopers may be adjusted to only state designated roads and above, but it's not disbanding.

"Police state is a term denoting a government that exercises power arbitrarily through the power of the police force." And this is what will happen when these political sheriffs start taking over everything. They will go after the police departments next. Heck, they already are taking over in many areas under the disguise of we're better and will save you so much money. I say the hell with those two clowns. I don't understand why some of you are so hell bent on putting people out of work! Evil Bas$&ds! Soooo sick of you. And no, I'm not a **** clocker (sarcasm). I guarantee I have twice as much law enforcement experience as you. Now, look that up smart ass!
