Weapons in the office
Affective May 8th, 2014 we are allowed to carry our weapons in the office as long as it is concealed and in a dual retention holster. Are they going to at least change the dress code policy to accommodate this change?

Re: Weapons in the office
No, you have to have a level II holster. It has to be concealed. So the only approved shirt to abide by this rule change is the cigar or Cuban shirts. So, now all of the men are going to look like old farts in the office.

Re: Weapons in the office
It is so stupid. When will you dumb ass Rambo's realize that the Department does not want you to carry. Buy your own weapon. Buy your own ammo. Now, you will have to buy another holster to carry in the office. Dam, you have to do all the same things as a mall security officer needs to do in order to carry a firearm during work. So, I guess that puts you on the same level as the mall security.

So you are telling me that you will be able to carry in the office without any additional training? If so then you at PP never ever deserve the designation LEO!!!

Re: Weapons in the office
The proposed budget from the House is for the Certified State Law Enforcement Officers only. Therefore, even if we were still under the PBA, we Corrections and Probation Officers would not be included in the raise. Because, FDLE does not certify us as State Law Enforcement Officers. Below is a copy of the state statute. We do not fall into this statute. Please remember that knowledge is power.
“Law enforcement officer” means any person who is elected, appointed, or employed full time by any municipality or the state or any political subdivision thereof; who is vested with authority to bear arms and make arrests; and whose primary responsibility is the prevention and detection of crime or the enforcement of the penal, criminal, traffic, or highway laws of the state. This definition includes all certified supervisory and command personnel whose duties include, in whole or in part, the supervision, training, guidance, and management responsibilities of full-time law enforcement officers, part-time law enforcement officers, or auxiliary law enforcement officers but does not include support personnel employed by the employing agency.

Re: Weapons in the office
As the post above says, the Probation Officers are not defined as Law Enforcement in the state of Florida. That is according to FDLE.

Re: Weapons in the office
Below is the Statute that governs Corrections and Probation Officers. Remember, knowledge is power. These statutes do not fall into the same category. FDLE does not consider us as State Law Enforcement Officers.
“Correctional officer” means any person who is appointed or employed full time by the state or any political subdivision thereof, or by any private entity which has contracted with the state or county, and whose primary responsibility is the supervision, protection, care, custody, and control, or investigation, of inmates within a correctional institution; however, the term “correctional officer” does not include any secretarial, clerical, or professionally trained personnel.
“Correctional probation officer” means a person who is employed full time by the state whose primary responsibility is the supervised custody, surveillance, and control of assigned inmates, probationers, parolees, or community controllees within institutions of the Department of Corrections or within the community. The term includes supervisory personnel whose duties include, in whole or in part, the supervision, training, and guidance of correctional probation officers, but excludes management and administrative personnel above, but not including, the probation and parole regional administrator level.

Maybe that is what makes them P&P upset?
