Well, vehicles driving in the passing lane at the speed limit, still must move over to the right lane and yield to faster traffic. Authorized Emergency Vehicles, ie Patrol vehicles with lights and sirens may disregard traffic laws in the performance of their duties with some caveats, first they have the burden of using due care, second, they do not have to have their emergency equipment operational to do this, HOWEVER. without your emergency equipment on, no other vehicle or pedestrian has the legal duty to yield to you. The move over thing was passed a couple of years ago, it does not matter that the vehicles attempting to pass you are speeding

Sorry, but you are incorrect and clearly not a a road deputy. "We" can drive irrespective of the traffic laws as needed for work purposes.

Good luck with all that. Seems like someone just got a week off with that line of thinking. And uh, no..'we' can't tailgate or drive aggressively or endanger citizens just because 'we' have a car with a star (like driving 130mph and blowing lights and then lying to a supervisor about it). But hey, you go ahead and tailgate people and drive aggressively when you're clearly not authorized to do so and see what it gets you.

Bottom line is too many speed and drive stupidly because they think they can do so with impunity. It's all fun and games until you get pulled over and cited by another agency (and fired which has happened for some in other agencies) or get a civilian hurt because you think you're above the law or you get some citizen complaints about your driving habits. In this day and age of cell phones and cell phone cameras and numbers on the back of your car you're asking for problems if you act like an idiot. Certain groups and the media are already looking for an excuse to file complaints or suits without 'you' folks giving them ammunition. If you are authorized to exceed the speed limit that's one thing. But we ALL know we're talking about something quite different.
