There's nothing wrong with the Glock 22. The only reason the agency is considering the FN is because a retired HCSO Major is now their salesman. This major stands to make a significant paycheck over this deal. It's stupid as hell, Safariland doesn't even make a holster for the gun. In fact no one does. So if you bought a $150.00 dollar holster for the Glock 22 that's better then what's issued you get screwed. If you bought a Glock 27 as a backup/off duty weapon your screwed as well. FN doesn't make a compact version of the 9mm they are looking at so I wonder how the "brain trust" is going to figure that out.

You must not know much about how things work at HCSO. This agency has a long history of ill-conceived, knee-jerk policy changes/equipment changes/training implementation/job/transfer/promotion requirements, etc... They take the phrase "peeing on your head and telling you it's raining" to a whole new level. Rarely, if ever, are things done for the reasons publicly stated.

The sale if conducted will be with public money and therefore public record. The sales rep is retired Major Harold Winsett. He passes out his business card everywhere he goes as that is his new job. Big whooping deal. He has a product and can sell it to whomever might be buying. You can insinuate whatever you want. HCSO either buys it or they do not. All I care is whether or not it will work well in a gunfight.

the quality of the FN is not the issue. it is a top notch pistol with a lineage back to the browning hi-power. the issue is the necessity to change firearms and all that entails when there are so many other pressing needs. if the problem is the expense of .40 vs 9mm then it calls into question the decision making of the move to .40 in the past. if it an issue of too many having difficulty in qualifying with .40 then address that with those people who need improvement. It just seems wasteful to up and change so soon after getting the glocks.

My understanding is that the contract is finalized. Deputies will be able to purchase their Glock's fr $250 if they would like to keep he firearm.

I am never surprised by some of the stupid shit that is written here. Our glocks are being sold to a distributor, and we will have an option to buy them back. The money from the sale of the glocks is being used to cover the purchase of the FNs. This means the office will not come out of pocket for the new weapons, thanks to deal given to us by FN. Once the deal has been finalized all this information will be public record, so you can read it yourself. Maybe is the future before you jump on a topic demanding an investigation or media story, you would take a little time and do some research. Unless you enjoy looking like an jack ass, who has no idea what he is talking about.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Do you seriously think the price that either Glock or a dealer is going to give us for our current pistols is going to cover the cost of the FNs? FNS 9s have a MSRP between $600-$700. I realize that the street price is a little lower and that we will get a discount based on quantity, government pricing, tax exemption, and other things, but it's not going to come anywhere close to the cost of replacing the handguns, the ammo, the accessories, and the time and money spent qualifying instructors, armorers, and deputies. This is a sweetheart deal for someone that isn't us.
