William Valveri wrote in public records. "Please... counsel/educate Officer Reed on maintaining her composure and professionalism at all times, even when being provoked."

A Clearwater police officer received a written counseling letter in her personnel file on Monday for using profanity and a derogatory term while questioning three teenage pranksters who were walking around with fake beer mugs on the beach, according to public records.

As a citizen who regularly frequents Clearwater Beach, I am not happy that Lt. Valveri has now created a work environment for these beach officers where they are less likely to take appropriate action (arrest) of these suspects now that Valveri has made it clear these punks have the upper hand in their interactions with them. Hell, they don't even have to file a complaint and Valveri gives them the upper hand. What happened to the tough on crime CPD?

I am more concerned with the appearance of the self promoting drama infused goof and his continued lack of professionalism. CZ

Who cares about the profanity? CPD allows their officers to go around calling citizens derogatory and offensive names such as "retard", her lack of professionalism and very limited vocabulary shows the world how she allowed these teens to have the upper hand! She mishandled that entire situation from the time she stepped out of her cruiser, she's lucky all she got was a written counseling! How very generous of the LT. She represents the department and I doubt they want someone like her as the face of their agency!

She's no doubt a liability... Put her on mids she obviously doesn't know how to interact with the public!

IT IS OBVIOUS THESE JUVENILE DELEQUINTS NEED A JOB, AND PROBABLY NEED AND HAVE NEEDED A GOOD SPANKING. WHAT SHOULD BE DONE, IS THESE IMAMTURE JUVENIES NEED TO BE HELD ACOUNTABLE FINANCIALLY FOR A WASTE OF THE OFFICER'S TIME. It shouldn't matter the situation, law enforcement is trained and expected to handle themselves in a professional manner, it is taught and harped on that you are not to take anything the public does or says personal! They don't see you they see the uniform, had this officer not have let them get the best of her, she would've been displayed in a positive light instead of reprimanded for her very poor judgement/bahavior! What a shame to be a part of that 1% giving Leos a bad name!
