    Capacity question for bar/club

In my jurisdiction we have some problem bars/clubs. I am willing to bet they are always over capacity. Can anyone assist me in locating a state statute if there is one that you can arrest or write the owner oflets say the sign says "250 persons" and they have 300???

    Thanks

The capacity will be determined by the size of the location and number of exits.

However, your best bet will be to ask the fire department in your area. Some of us are also licensed inspectors, but we don't do inspections. For us to get involved, it's usually blown up or burned down.

Check over at the ABT board. If said places are bars/clubs, ABT, under DBPR, have a lot of mobility to get places like that shut down. They can usually work their UCs in there, and set up an under-age drinking operation sting etc. May not be for a violation of capacity codes, but shutting down a problem place, even for a little bit, is a step in the right directions. Good luck
