Trooper should of scuba'd up and went underwater to properly document the belongings inside the vehicle at final rest. It is unacceptable to allow the tow truck to hook up and drag a vehicle out of the water prior to your inventory.

It is not the wrecker drivers responsibility to inventory the car. Once it is removed from the water it is the troopers responsibility to do the inventory. Please tell me you are not a trooper.
So if a wrecker driver drags a car out of the water and may or may not have said to the trooper "Hey there is a gun in the vehicle" you assume the trooper did not do his job and did not do an inventory. Where do you get the wrecker driver did the inventory? Please tell me YOU are not a trooper.

And the wrecker driver finds "guns" in said vehicle, upon pulling the vehicle out, what is the proper procedure for documentation of these "guns"?

Are there forms to complete? Can you advise?

    Just asking? Opine?

Depends..... Get a life diamond dave!

    Interesting point, well taken.

Guns and a "flask" were found but never inventoried... DUI case mind you...

Yup, based on the investigation, that's about the standard, FaceBook...

FHP Troopers, be wary of posting on this topic going further.

While we appreciate your work, we look at it too...

Lots of comments, most legit, some B.S.

Policy and Procedure manual spells it out.

    So...
What happens when you don't inventory or even docment the make/model of firearms recovered during a traffic crash / DUI investigation?

Let's also not forget the little bit of evidence, the "flask"...

This Diamond Dave guy is a squirrel, one of those "Black helicopter" types. No need to keep feeding his psychoses.

    Secret Squirrel here...

My report has that the driver smelled of alcohol.

Guns were found by wrecker driver, but they were never inventoried (or run NCIC / FCIC)

Guns were give back to owner. No where is it referenced that there was a flask either, only the tow report.

Three things you always document in law enforcement; money, guns and dope.
