    Re: Forced Resignations / Terminations

The bigger question is why certain people are still here – and why they are promoted into Knight’s 2nd floor inner circle.

Knight refused to investigate Ron Locke for allegations of child molestation. Locke is still here.

John Walsh lied to IE and encouraged another officer to lie to IA. Walsh is still here and Knight promoted him into his 2nd floor inner circle.

Kevin McElyea failed a lie detector test and was later promoted by Knight.

Dan Tutko encouraged a subordinate K9 deputy to lie about a false sniff. Tutko is still here.

The SAO declined to proceed with a domestic battery prosecution against Steve Burns, but said that the SAO “reserves the right to change it’s mind.” Burns is still here and was promoted by Knight.

Kurt Hoffman stole department gas to use in his personal vehicle and failed a lie detector test about it. Knight promoted him.

Chris Iorio blew the whistle on Knight’s crazy activities, so Knight brought “trumped up allegations” against him as revenge. Iorio is now suing Knight in court.

Rick Mottola blew the whistle on Knight’s crazy activities, so Knight brought “brumped up allegations” against him. Mottola is now suing Knight in court.

Tom Knight and Kurt Hoffman fired Robert Graham, so Graham sued Knight and was awarded almost a million dollars by Sarasota County.

You have to give Mottola and Iorio credit for being one step ahead of the “progressive discipline shenanigans” of Knight, Hoffman and Burns. Both Mottola and Iorio sued in court at the right time, instead of waiting for Knight’s henchmen to orchestrate more bogus allegations against them. Knight’s “progressive discipline” has effectively been taken OUT of his hands and it has been placed in the courts, where it should be (to eliminate lies and deceit from the 2nd floor). If Mottola and Iorio had not sued, then more bogus allegations would have been orchestrated against them, thus giving Knight the sham authority to fire them. It’s all a 2nd floor scam.

And Bob Graham showed Knight and Hoffman a couple of legal tricks with his three-quarters of a million $$$ out-of-court settlement. Unfortunately, the settlement money came from the county taxpayers and NOT from the pockets of Knight and Hoffman.

The clown-like decisions of Knight, Hoffman and other senior 2nd floor management misfits is stun-driving the entire agency into the dirt.

    Holy cow!

It looks like the odds are finally catching up with them. In the Knight/Iorio case, the 2nd floor masterminds tried to establish “progressive discipline” against Iorio.

Steve Burns thought he was a genius when Iorio was “set up for a fall” on film. Did Burns forget that Charlie Kaspar was also on film? Kaspar was in-charge and was the speaker and was running the show, but he did NOT address the situation. Instead, he ALLOWED it to continue. So then Knight suspends Iorio for two days without pay, while doing nothing to Kaspar??? It proves that senior management twists and turns the facts of a case (aka lies) to suit their needs to try and establish “progressive discipline.”

In the Knight/Mottola case, Mr. Knight would love to terminate Mottola from employment, but Knight is caught in a legal and political bind, so he can’t do squat right now. Doh!

Tom Knight, Steve Burns, Kurt Hoffman and other Knight appointees have turned the Sarasota Sheriff's Office upside down with immoral and unethical political bullying. They are using the awesome power of a constitutional officer's office for personal vendettas.

Capt. Rick Mottola and Sgt. Chris Iorio are clearly on Mr. Knight's sh*t list and Steve Burns would love to grudge f*** them while Hoffman declares that it's all perfectly legal. Hoffman's legalese would say that it's perfectly legal to terminate them or to force them to resign.

Capt. Mottola and Sgt. Iorio have become a legal line in the sand for Mr. Knight. The next 24+ months will be very interest to watch.

From day one, Knight has been completely able to handle the agency. At an intuitive level, everyone senses that some sort of a 2nd floor meltdown is coming. The sudden departure of majors Jim Lilly and Kevin Kenney was a clue for outsiders, although insiders on the 2nd floor know the dirty scoop. Even those who are not employed by the agency are now intimately familiar with Knight's ineptitude, thanks to the media constantly reporting all this crap.
