    DUI Case gone wrong?

    With those circumstances I wouldn't have even taken the reckless driving.

    Being a single vehicle, single occupant crash they were lucky to get that to stick.

    Why did the trooper let him go if he suspected DUI?

    While no one can be forced to go seek medical care, it is up to the trooper if the subject is allowed to leave the scene to go home when a suspected crime has occurred.

    Looks to me like the trooper failed to do their job. So in answer to the title of this thread, yes this DUI case was botched by the trooper.

    Single vehicle / single occupant crashes rarely result in a DUI conviction when challenged aggressively by a defense lawyer. Prosecutors are quick to make a deal on reckless driving charges with DUI sanctions in most of the cases I have seen.
