Pedafiles of feather flock together. They cover for each other. Both Knight and Burns had access to the victim's tape recorded admission that Locke had sex with her when she was 17, yet they didn't even interview him in IA. There is a special place reserved in hell for those kind of people. We need an upstanding person to run for office. Knight and Burns are bullies who cover up felonies of friends while hsmmering good SSO employees on trumped up allegations. Iorio and Sugg are the most recent political casualities. Not one single employee will list his name here in favor of Knight because we all know he is a tyrant who loves Hitler's leadership tactics.

Re: Kurt Hoffman for sheriff 2016?

Who said Hoffman was really moving to south venice? A credible source?

And Hoffman didn't get smoked in the Charlotte County race. He lost by under 400 votes.

The only reason Davenport won was because of Hurricane Charley as he was the #2 at the time.

Interesting though, Eric Robinson did runs Hoffmans campaign back in 2004.

Knowing him though, I would tell you that it would be virtually impossible for Kurt to run for Sheriff. His wife HATED politics and he had a nasty race in Charlotte. At the time people were stealing his garbage and rummaging through it.

If he runs, there isn't a damn thing you can do except vote.

I still think Knight is too young to want to give up his office. He is as safe as Monge was in Sarasota.

Yes, some of you are disgruntled, but as a Former Charlotte County Sheriff told me once, it doesn't matter what the deputies think - most of them don't vote!

Here is an excellent commentary about Kurt Hoffman by "country roads" from the H-T website:

I am pretty sure that Hoffman pulled out of the interim county administrator's job because he would have lost the "special risk" or "high risk retirement" by going to a civilian job. In this day and age, that high risk retirement plan is irreplaceable. The bottom line is, if you work for 25 years (you earn 3% a year) and retire at a certain age, you get 75% of your salary from the average of your 5 highest paid years of service for the rest of your life. This is given to folks who put their lives on the line by being firefighters, deputies and EMT/Paramedics. In my opinion they earned it.

Teachers also get State retirement but they only earn about 1.6% per year. They will retire with much less. Here is a comparison of government high risk retirement vs. government civilian retirement in Florida:

    • 25 years of government high risk: Retire with 75% of your pay[/*:m:bwjgdnv6]
    • 25 years of government civilian: Retire with 40% of your pay[/*:m:bwjgdnv6]

Hoffman is is an attorney and sits in his office all day doing administrative paperwork, who never responds to calls for high-risk law enforcement services. Hoffman isn't putting his life on the line at all.

Hoffman never went through a real field training program at the Sarasota Sheriff's Office, so what happens if Hoffman goes into a 7-11 that is being robbed? What kind of liability is this county looking at if Hoffman responds to the threat with his weapon? What if Hoffman is at a restaurant and a domestic violence incident occurs? As a sworn officer, he has a duty to act, but what is he going to do??? At least a real officer has had field training training in response to these situations. Hoffman goes to in-service training and has firearms training, but that doesn't equate to a 16 week field training program.

This was just another good ol boy hookup. Now Hoffman wants the big chair. I think there is a special retirement plan for elected officials as well.

    What a mess!

    But wait! There's much more!!!

He has been promoted to Major, although he was never a deputy, sergeant or lieutenant, etc. Hoffman is in an "appointed" position that is now sworn, so he is now a high risk employee, earning the top rate of retirement for the State of Florida, as opposed to a civilian employee, who earns much less salary and retirement benefits because their job is NOT high risk.

When G. Monge was in office, the legal adviser (attorney) was a civilian. Then Balkwill came in and promoted his legal advisor to a sworn position, which gave her a high risk retirement, even though she didn't do law enforcement.

Hoffman was hired as a civilian attorney, but now he's a sworn attorney. Hoffman was given a take home police car and a gun to go with his high salary and special risk retirement plan.

Hoffman never passed any 16 week field training for the SSO, although he did work in Charlotte County as a reserve deputy many years ago. The SSO also hired a 2nd attorney hired as legal adviser, in addition to Hoffman, but he is not sworn. Patrick Dugan is his name.

Anyway, Hoffman ran for sheriff in Charlotte county and lost. My guess is mostly due to the fact that he stole gas when he was an deputy down there. He also lied about the theft when being hired for the SSO, but Balkwill hired him anyway. You will remember Balkwill has allegedly stolen things as well, such as a leather command chair, a computer, and a couple of guns. Birds of a feather and all that....

Hoffman has a ton of skeletons in his closet, in addition to stealing the gas. I am sure that will all come out closer to 2016. Hoffman is also the guy that the county Commission wanted to be interim County Administrator a while back, but it was inappropriate because of his relationship with Christine Robinson and her family.

They are all so involved with each other.....
