    Pension

Hold on boys we are getting ready to get remmed. Read the new pension bill and since our funding is below 80% we are gonna lose some serious benefits.

Representatives from California and two other states introduced a bill in Congress on Thursday that would strip states and cities of their right to issue tax-exempt bonds unless they first disclosed the true cost of their pension plans and whether they could pay it.

The measure seeks to prevent more municipal bankruptcies like the one in Stockton, Calif., where the city has defaulted on hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of municipal bonds but continues to pay hundreds of millions of dollars more in pension costs.

A debate is now raging in that bankruptcy over which of the two debts has legal priority. The question has far-reaching implications both for labor relations and the building of public works, and many experts expect the Supreme Court to have the final say.

    Re: Pension

The problem is everyone wants something done and no one stands up to fight for what they feel is right except a selected few. If you don't show up to meetings and do not stay on top of what is going on you aren't going to know all the truth from thee union side and city side. Remember our union is only as strong as its members and if we don't unite then we have no complaint.

I agree with Holligans words. Many comments are made from a position of lack of knowledge and involvemnt. The pension is not a bad one. If you are truly involved with the process then you will know what is issues are and where we are at in the process. Everyone's involvment, regardless of opinion, should be welcomed. Get involed............
