Broward deputy opens fire on break-in suspect in Lauderdale Lakes

A Broward County deputy responding to a call of a break-in Sunday morning opened fire wounding a suspect in Lauderdale Lakes.

The suspect sustained a non life-threatening gun shot wound, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office which is sending a public information officer to the scene.

Here’s what BSO said transpired:

Around 9 a.m., after responding to a call for a break-in and/or robbery in the vicinity 3820 NW 29th St., the deputy was forced to open fire, striking the suspect.

It’s unclear where the suspect was hit or what prompted the deputy to open fire.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital by Broward Sheriff fire rescue.
