A 15-year-old boy was charged tonight in the slaying of an off-duty Chicago police officer Friday, police officials said.

The officer, identified as Hester Scott of the 8800 block of South Wallace Street, was found a little before noon Friday in a sewer trap behind the house, according to police. The death was believed to be domestic-related, police said.

The officer apparently had been beaten. An autopsy showed she died of trauma in an assault, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Authorities said Friday that a teen was being questioned about Scott’s death, and Saturday night said the 15-year-old boy had been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and armed robbery.

Scott got into a dispute with her killer about the use of a cell phone shortly before she was slain, law enforcement sources said.

The teen was scheduled to appear in Central Bond Court Monday, according to News Affairs. Police did not release the name of the juvenile or any other details.

Chicago police News Affairs said Scott was 55 years old and had 25 years on the job.
