A 45-year-old Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy assigned to the Marina del Rey station has been booked on three felony counts of child molestation for crimes allegedly committed after he met a 15-year-old girl while on duty.

Kenneth Alexander was arrested Thursday morning after turning himself in at a sheriff's station at the direction of sheriff's Special Victims Bureau investigators.

Alexander posted bond of $115,000 and was released. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 10 at the Airport Courthouse.

The allegations include that he met the victim while on duty in 2010 while assigned as a patrol deputy in Marina del Rey. The crimes allegedly were committed when Alexander met with the victim while off-duty in the community of View Park.

An informant called the Los Angeles County Child Abuse Hotline on Aug. 16, 2011, and a suspected child abuse report was taken.

Detectives with the Special Victims Bureau immediately began following significant leads, but the last name of the suspect was wrong. Detectives eventually were able to interview the victim.

Alexander was interviewed Sept. 19, 2011, and the next day was relieved of duty with pay pending further investigation.

Special Victims Bureau on Wedneday filed a case with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office alleging three felony charges of child molestation.

Alexander was suspended without pay Thursday after the charges were filed.
