No way to take it off the staff,,, just that it won't do any good. The captain wasn't even a good d/s, much less supervisor. he has to get all investigative information from his "bud", another capt, who was never a detective,,, but oh my, what's he over???? lol

    Re: Time For A Change!!

I suspect it was the "staff" member who started the ac/dc in the first place, trying to get the heat off himself. Call me suspicious, but they've done that before, trying to make it sound like just another loyal deputy defending them. They think we're not smart enough to figure it out. The bottom line is that this staff member is a real d%#$head. He enjoys slapping people with punishment. I think he probably gets his rocks off by it. The bigger problem is that he's allowed to do what he does. Deputies aren't going to fight it, bcause they can't afford to lose their jobs. Staff thinks he's doing a great job, so he gets away with it. Nobody looks into his punishments to see if they are justified. You should see some of the things he considers punishable. It's crazy! If they checked how many punishments he's given out in the last year, and compare them to the other districts, it would be interesting to see the numbers. If the other Captains are doing the same thing, then they are making this a miserable place to work. Suspensions don't make better employees. They make pissed off employees who lack motivation to come to work and do a good job, because they figure it's not worth the crap they have to put up with. They do what they have to do to get by. Nice job, Captain.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought they changed it to where three people in the chain had to approve disciplinary action. This came about when a SW Captain was abusing his power doing this several years back.

The chain is part of the problem. They don't examine the recommendation of a lower level staff member until the abuse is in-your-face. The Major loves this guy. He gives them what they want. They don't care that he makes everyone in his district miserable. As long as they get what they want, and nobody fights the punishments, he will keep right on abusing people. If a supervisor recommends a Letter, and he wants Suspension, he overrides them. If a citizen makes a complaint against a deputy, he will push it even if the citizen is uncooperative. How many times do we work a call, and somebody doesn't like what we do? So they get pissed off and complain, because GJ encourages that. Then they decide it's too much trouble to follow thru, and they don't want to be bothered. He will push it anyway. He's just an a&%#ole.

While the discussion is on supervision what about the one who's only mission is to make lives miserable, then going to church and preaching about being your brothers keeper???? If we could get past the racism and look at the person and their abilities (or lack of), our office would run so sweet!!!! We have great supervisors and workers,,,, but there is this jealousy and insecurity in position that is a joke!!! Bring in a person who's goal is to make pcso a better place,,, not just themselves!

if you were employed by pcso a few years ago, you would remember that was tried.
when the brass got wind of it, sheriff crow sent his boys (hester for one) around to all the roll calls and discouraged it. he also put out a several page memo to everyone telling why we didnt need the p.b.a. the threats from the brass scared too many no balls deputies from joining. so now you see where the agency is. shady grady is in command and in control.

It's time to revisit the Union.... BUT, you can bet money, the staff will not let it happen. Just think a promotion system that is fair, not biased, based on who knows who, who owes what, etc.. Based on how you do on the tests. Some of the discipline that is being handed out by the upper staff that has a bone to pick with certain supervisors. Thanks goodness the last one got saved somewhat. it's ridiculous on how certain supervisors think they are god!! (no pun intended,,, oh WTH,, yep it is)

If the Union were invited in, Staff couldn't stop it. They would try their old brainwashing tricks again, just like the last time. They would come around like last time (the only time you see them is when they have a reason that benefits them), and "remind" everybody how good they have it, and how baaaaad the Union is. But it's up to the employees to vote it in or out. Think about it. What employer is going to tell you that a union is good? It's not good for them, because it protects the employee from them. They don't want that! It would interfere with how they have to do things. Grady couldn't stand not having 100% control of his little kingdom. He'd fight it like WWIII. But he wouldn't fight it because it's bad for you. He'd fight it cos it's bad for him.
