OFFICIAL MDPD FUNERAL ARRANGMENTS
Here are all the details regarding Amanda’s and Roger’s funeral:
The primary objective is to ensure everything is in place for the family now and forever!
All sworn personnel planning to attend the funeral procession is to park at the Club Meka parking lot located at the corner of NE 2 Avenue and 9th Street. Please be there at 0915 HRS. Please note the procession into the AAA is anticipated at 1000 hours and as such, we are asking all attendees to be parked and in prior to that time, as there will be several traffic reroutes and delays. DO NOT PARK IN THE LOT ACROSS THE STREET.
It is imperative that we enter the AAA together in order to make sure we exit as a team to prepare for the funeral procession. When the lot gets to capacity, park along side 9th Street facing East.
Once MDPD personnel gets into line for the funeral procession, I will advise on TAC 11 when we will proceed. All other outside agencies will join after MDPD and MPD units are moving.
Estimated travel time for procession after the funeral from the AAA to Vista Memorial is approx 2 hours.
All officers in uniform to wear Class "A" with cover
Ensure proper protocols for all personnel attending the funeral, (ie; No baseball hat, No sneakers, High Gloss shoes preferred, marked vehicles cleaned, uniform properly pressed, wear proper duty gear, salute only if wearing cover, civilian attire will be hand over heart (They do not want officers saluting if they are not wearing a cover.)
If you are not planning to participate in the funeral procession, please park underneath I-95 by our headquarters building. The Miami Fraternal Order of Police will be providing a chartered bus (with police escort) for our retirees and all other MPD personnel planning to attend. The bus will begin transporting patrons at 0930 HRS.
Fraternally,
Sergeant Javier Ortiz, Vice President
Miami Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #20
