Re: florida
St .Petersburg Police have SCU unit that can put ANY HOUSE IN ORDER. There an elite squad similar to the Navy Seals, Gang Bangers, Druggies, Hide for days after a sweep thru the South side!

Re: florida
LOL I guess this Los Angeles, CA post has turned into a Florida post with Miami-Dade Police bashing Tampa police on who has the greatest crime rate.
Just another reason why Florida sucks.

The bottom line, law enforcement in Florida sucks! I was a Police Officer in Los Angeles for 6 years before I decided to move my family to Florida so I could give my children a "better quality of life". I was hired as a Deputy Sheriff, took a 50% pay cut and I have regretted it for the last 19 years. Yes, my children received an outstanding education and we paid little for their college education (Florida Bright Futures, Pre-paid college fund and scholarships) but what is really lacking is a true brotherhood amongst the deputies and officers from all the surrounding agencies, it's almost like a disease. There is more internal bashing, back stabbing and gripe from all the rank and file, it's become a countdown until retirement. There aren't division family get togethers for fear some IA puke will be in the background with a camera taking notes. Since most of Florida only works one man units, I think there is a lack of brotherhood bonds from the beginning, you're trained and continue to work a solo unit your entire career unless you're an FTO.
It's too late to go back now, too much time has been invested since my kids had graduated. LAPD is a very professional organization and yes it has it's problems as does every agency but for what's it worth, LAPD is still a role model many other agencies in every state should follow. 70 officers of the almost 10,000 officers of the LAPD went amok. Thats about the ratio of what we have in Florida, it just doesn't make the news.

I live in Tampa and I lived in LA (and worked) as well. Tampa is a country club compared to some areas of LA. Tampa traffic is the Autobahn compared to traffic on the 405 or the 101. Anyone who thinks TPD is better trained or more knowledgable than anyone working in LAPD or LASD is sadly misinformed. The TPD officers are some of the most uninformed and inexperienced guys around. When you can roll to a call 6 cars deep and can let someone take the handle on a report every time, you can pretty much go an entire patrol career without handling a single case. LAPD and LASD have the best officer safety practices and the most squared away guys. TPD flies by the seat of their pants most of the time. I have respect for all who wear the badge, but there is NO comparison between an LA cop and a Tampa one. Sorry.

Florida is a bunch of mooks, all they do is take advantage of the stupid people who stay high all the time. NO detective work going on there; only profiling, and stereotyping.
