    Pay Raise

Pay raises are coming for Fort Lauderdale's public safety employees, the police officers and ranking supervisors, and the firefighters.

City commissioners agreed in a 3-2 vote Tuesday night to approve contracts with the unions representing those employees. They'll all get 2.5 percent raises this year plus a 2.5 percent salary increase that's classified as an increase in hazardous duty pay. Next year they'll all get another 2.5 percent raise, and 2.5 percent the third year.

Don't know what their cost of living is like but that will put their new hires making more than our officers currently at step 3. If I was a brand new rookie, that would definitely give me cause to think. Won't be raises here for a while.
