    Chief Applicants

After completing a recent ride along with the officers of the Clearwater Police Department, one of the better qualified Chief applicants made mention to the fact that he thought the officers were afraid to do their jobs. He was not referring to the fact that the officers were afraid only that they appeard to be afraid to do their jobs due to the attitude of the administration. So of course what does the minds that be do, cut the two best qualified applicants and keep the two least qualified. The legacy of Klein will never go away. Jimmy Moore (Grandpa) will return and yes, he does know where the gold is!!

    Re: Chief Applicants

Dear Orlando candidate who did not make the final cut, we are sorry you did not make it, but please continue the work you do at Orlando and let it go. This board is not an effective means to voice your displeasure, use other more effective means.

Did you every stop and think that the Orlando canidate was not the one who wrote the initial post? You must be one of Sid's Kids who want thinsg to stay the same. You don't want to move forward and the only thing you want is the same old same old. CPD deserves a breath of fresh air and the thinking only someone from the outside can bring. Look at each canidate's resumes and see who should have been in the running for chief. It is obvious after reviewing each canidates qualifications that the guy from Orlando and the guy from Dallas were by far the most qualified. Settle for whatever lump of coal the city gives you. In a few years when you are crying into your cereal don't say I didn't tell you.

Its very obvious that "Guest" is a Pro-Sid person and doesn't want change. Do you really think that any of the Qualified Applicants would actually air thier disbelief on LEO Affairs, get real. This place has been stagnant for close to 30 years. Open the windows and the Sid Klein stank off this place.

    Re: Chief Applicants

Well...I'm sure no one was surprised at this outcome. Let's see..

Disqualify a Spanish Speaking, Commander of a Like-size Department with quality credentials. Yea, he's no good.

Disqualify a former Police Chief/Labor Relations Lawyer...Yea, a guy with 18 months of Chief experience sprinkled with Labor issues knows much more.

Yet, put a guy who over sees 24 officers with a guy who's Best Friends with the person who does the hiring. That way you can tell the public "The other guy wasn't as qualified". Did no one see that coming? Does Horne actually think employees and citizens are that stupid? Obviously he does.

The memo the City Manger put out stated that this was an "Exhaustive Search" - Yes - trying to cover your tracks to make the game fall in your favor so as to not look quite as guilty as you are is exhausting I'm sure. A man who spent 20 some years under Chief Klein's reins, goes off for less than 2 years on his own, certainly wouldn't come back to his former employer and know how to do much different. He took what he learned under Klein and used it in Summerville. Where would he have learned in less than 2 years about doing anything differently? What could he possibly have done in less than 2 years that no other applicant was able to do in their respective departments in 10 or 15 years? And if you think because you were his best friend, cheerleader or friends of his wife that will benefit you, you're sadly mistaken my Brothers and Sisters. They have a Best Friend - Bill Horne.

The new Chief owes NO ONE loyality except the man that hired him and will pull his puppet strings because he pulled this dog and pony show off to the public. The new Chief lied to his former community about his commitment to them and bailed out after serving less than half of his contratual time. All he wanted from Summerville was a Gold Badge and a Name Plate and his buddy back home would see to it that he was going to be the next in line to the throne. Leaving your wife behind when you take a job in another state? Even she knew he'd be back and in what position. It was a game from the moment he left his Captain's position... How anyone could respect either of these men is beyond me. Once a Player always a Player. Now CPD is about to be played.

Klein at least had a reputation of standing up to City Hall. Tony has already shown where his loyality lies - with City Hall and his good friend who runs it. What should be a happy day for the Clearwater Police Department is actually a sad day filled with lies and corruption. Summerville citizens were lied to. Clearwater citizens have been lied to. Great way to start Chief.
