After how many years=vested?
After how many years' active LE service are you considered vested?
Also, upon reveiwing FDEP's website and its LEOAffairs.com board, I came across a contradiction regarding take-home vehicles. Does DEP allow its officers take-home cars? If so, what are the allowances/parameters regarding take-home vehicle use?
Thank you for taking the time regarding your response(s).

Six years in the FRS makes you a "vested" employee.

Re: After how many years=vested?
One year on the investment side and 6 years is correct on the defined benefit side.Yes ,on the take home car,but NO personal use like Sheriffs Offices and Cities.DEP is excellent place to work as LEO.But like all state jobs, the the $$$$$$$$$ is very low.

Well you CAN work hard at DEP if you choose to. So yes, you can do nothing, or you can be proactive. Pay is the same either way.
