Two Law Enforcement Officers Shot in Henry County

Henry County 6:05pm: Reports are that two deputies have been shot on Highway 134 East near Mt. Hebron church. Multiple agencies are responding. Our information is that there is a stand off at the present time.

Sources say the gunman is dead. The injured have been carried to the hospital. It is a trailer next to Grandberry's Store just off Hwy. 134 East of Headland. Multiple law enforcement officers and agencies are on the scene. We understand two people are dead. Reports are Quitman County Sheriff Chief Deputy Eddie Ingram was near the scene and killed the gunman.

A Headland Police Officer has been killed. The gunman was killed. A Henry County Sheriff Deputy has been shot and transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Quitman County Sheriff Chief Deputy Eddie Ingram heard the call for help and was close by the scene. Reports are Ingram responded and killed the gunman.

It has been confirmed that Headland Police Officer Dexter Hammond was killed in the line of duty tonight. Henry County Sheriff Deputy Ted Yost was shot and is in surgery at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. The gunman is reported to have been shot and killed. UNCONFIRMED, but sources say the gunman was Fred Davis.
Reports are Deputy Yost was shot first. As Hammond responded, sources say Davis is reported to have shot and killed Officer Hammond.
Ingram was near the scene coming towards Dothan. He is reported to have heard the call for help and responded. Ingram is reported to have shot and killed Davis.
According to sources, someone broke down near the Davis residence. They are reported to have gone to the Davis house for help at which time Davis is reported to have fired some shots. That is why the Henry County Deputy responded.
Area law enforcement is on the scene. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is in charge of the scene. Dothan – Houston County District Attorney Doug Valeska is on the scene. Alabama Attorney General Troy King has spoke with Valeska and others offering all help from his office they need.
Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox and Headland Police Chief Mark Jones are on the scene and at the hospital.
