This has been a trend in the last 20 or so years and continues to gain momentum especially if you are trying to promote. It matters not that you may have been deemed medically brain dead and that your career has been on life support, if you have a degree you will be promoted over someone better qualified without one. There are countless examples of this practice just within the last 18 months. (It also helps to be a Mason)
The most interesting thing about this agency is that the good officers, the performers, have no interest in promoting and coming out of the field to be subjected to the departmental politics and intrigues; consequently, the people that promote are those that don’t want to be in the field and were never performers. You end up with officers looking up to performing officers over their immediate supervisor as they consider the officer instead of the supervisor as a better role model and more knowledgable.
The obvious end result is poor line supervisors, totally detached mid-level managers and the reinforcement of an organizational culture that is in dire need of replacement.

Law enforcement is a trade. You learn it by doing it. Upper Admin. and Management is a profession and requires a college degree. Give me a veteran or a guy with life experience and I will make a COP out of him. Not a kid who lives at home with his Mom while getting his degree.

I agree with Glen Bunk or whatever his name is about the corrupt politicians and corporate greed. In this country they are one in the same. However, what many of you fail to realize, too scared to talk about, or maybe you just don't know is the eventual establishment of a one world government. Call it what you want but it's true, and most people are clueless. Most of the elected leadership is signed on to this deal to implode the U.S. economy, kill the middle class, get rid of sovreignty, and attempt to disarm the American people. The good ol' boy network here is going to collapse. Stop listening to the left right paradigm argument. The politicians in DC want us fighting with each other when we should be coming together. Look closely at your county and city government. If they have things posted on their website about "sustainable development", biometrics, and sustainable living then look out. I really don't care if you guys get pissed at my post. However, this will resonate with some of you. The pissed off ones are going to be the sheep.
