A 12-year veteran of the Jackson County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Department died early Sunday morning in an apparent one-vehicle accident.

Deputy Jimmy K. Wright, 35, died after losing control of his 2006 Ford F-150 while traveling north on State Road 271 in Jackson County around 12:35 a.m. Sunday morning. According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Wright’s vehicle drifted into the southbound lane and continued across the road, running through several driveways before beginning to roll.

The report states Wright appeared to take no evasive action during the accident and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was thrown free from the truck through the sun roof. He was pronounced dead at Jackson Hospital.
