The Dracut man says his wife's contractions were three minutes apart. The couple says the trooper made them wait five to 10 minutes while he wrote a ticket for another car on Route 2, asked to see Jennifer's belly to prove her pregnancy, then issued them a ticket.

The couple made it to Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. Their daughter was born five hours later.

State police say no discipline is likely for the trooper.

The idiot deserves a ticket AND a court-order to attend a basic biology class! He will always lose a race involving who will give birth faster: his wife who can carry a child in utero...and his dumb@ss, who cannot. :!:

Here's my true rookie story from many years ago! :snicker:

I pulled a guy over for speeding and he said that his wife was giving birth and he was in route to the hospital. I looked over at her and she had a big pregnant belly, so being the foolish rookie that I was, I gave him an escort to the hospital. When we got to the parking lot, he parked his car sooooo fast that I got suspicious, like he was trying to get away from me -- and then he and his wife ran like hell to the emergency room entrance -- and I got more suspicious, like they were trying to elude me, so I ran after them. They ran into ER and then out the side door and tried to get back to their car, but I caught them and the jig was up. :snicker: Unbelievable!!!!

So we're supposed to let a pregnant couple endanger the rest of the public so they can get to the hospital and have their baby? So what happens when they hit and kill someone on the way? Are we going to waive the charges then? Don't think so, here's your ticket, I've already called for an ambulance while I was writing it, the ambulance has the right to speed and use these lanes to get your wife to the hospital. I'm not going to have you endanger my wife and kids just so you can get yours to the hospital.... Use the services available to you... And the newspaper reporters always bashing the popo!!!! What if it was their loved one who got put in a wheelchair cause some smuck feels he can drive the way he wants..

Ok here's my twist on a speeding story linking a medical situation and the Mass. SP.
Once, many years ago, my first (and current) wife(an OB nurse) was returning from Boston to her home hospital after going in a (1972) Cadillac ambulance to rush a pregnant lady into a hospital in Boston. Ambulance drivers had to be nuts back then (and hold a first aid card). They were flying like crazy on an interstate back home and a trooper was closing in on them so they told my wife she had to lay on the stretcher until the trooper passed or backed off. Ok so that's not real funny but this story on the MASS SP made me think of it.
