    PBA's Lousy Representation

I'm sure you all haven't noticed, because it's not something that the Coastal Florida PBA will brag about on their website, but they just lost ANOTHER unfair labor practice that they filed, this one against the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Was this filed by Maria or their new labor attorney Val Shealey? No, it was filed by staff rep Johnny D. Bingham, and promptly thrown out by the PERC General Counsel Steve Meck for among other reasons, Johnny not citing to the proper law (and citing to the contract, rather than the law) in his unfair labor practice charge and for NOT INCLUDING A COPY OF THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT with his unfair labor practice charge.

Case number 2008-CA-066, Coastal Florida PBA v. Flagler County Sheriff's Office, dismissed in two days. So how's that PBA representation tasting now folks?

PBA just fired their executive director Nate Ingram. I guess he wasn't cutting the mustard, but I've heard various things about why he got the axe. PBA sucks, can't organize and I hear a bunch of bargaining units like St. Lucie Co. Sheriff's Office and a Brevard County civilian unit are looking to leave them. I know they tried to organize Seminole Co. SO, but Eslinger put a stop to that right quick.

Yeah, they couldn't organize Seminole Co. SO or Putnam Co. SO or any other big unit that they were bragging about because they fired the only guy who actually had any experience as a union organizer. It seems that having experience in your job is not something that PBA looks for when they hire staff members as they just promoted that guy Bingham to be Nate Ingram's replacement as Executive Director. The same guy that screwed up that ULP and from what I understand has no experience running a labor union. Crazy.

I heard Nate got fired because he lied about his background or on his resume or application or something and that he couldn't organize any units.

So are you tired of carrying the PBA along yet? If you're not by now, you will be after the Ft. Pierce PD leaves the PBA, just like Port St. Lucie PD did to join IUPA and just like the St. Lucie County S.O. is getting ready to do as well. Check out the PERC website and see that IUPA filed an R/C petition to take over Ft. Pierce PD:

RC09024 - International Union of Police Associations, AFL-CIO vs. City of Fort Pierce vs. Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association, Inc.

And yet, the lies from Vince Champion keep on coming via this latest B.S. blast on the CFPBA website. They don't have any real news to report, so Vince has to lie:

    Dear Friends:

As Spring rolls forward things have never been busier at your PBA & PEA. Soon we will have exciting announcements about new units coming on board and it gives me great personal pride to inform you that we are expanding our membership each day, despite an economy that has adversely affected us all. That’s the good news.

    ...

    Best Regards,

    Vincent L. Champion, President
    Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association
    Coastal Florida Public Employees Association

The problem with your lies Vince is that they're all so easy to check out and pick apart. You and the PBA/PEA have not filed an R/C petition in OVER ONE YEAR:

RC08007 - Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association, Inc. vs. City of Port Orange
    Filed on 2/12/08.

So how exactly are you expanding your membership each day? Certainly not by gaining the Jacksonville city workers unit that Nate Ingram promised. Certainly not by gaining the Putnam County S.O., another Nate promise. Certainly by not having Johnny Bingham out there actually organizing units like you and your lackeys said he was so good at right Vince? I know you won't respond to this Vince, because you can't handle the truth and you don't have any way to spin this into more of your lies.

So what about it folks? Tired of carrying Vince and his pathetic excuse for a union on your back? Tired of forking over your hard earned money to pay dues to belong to a union that is shrinking smaller and smaller every day? If so, then come on over to the FOP, a large union with real political power to protect you and your job in these tight economic times.

    Re: PBA's Lousy Representation

Vince Champion strikes again...retaining a totally unqualified attorney to represent the membership of the PBA:

Vince has decided to retain Daytona Beach attorney Steven Delaroche as a replacement for the last superstar attorney Val Shealey. As you'll note from Delaroche's website, he doesn't have labor law experience either, rather he touts his experience in criminal, business and family law:

    http://www.delaroche-law.com/

    -----

Not only that, but Delaroche is a former judge who was being investigated by the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission for fixing traffic tickets for his family members and friends and was charged with lying under oath before the JQC. He resigned his judgeship rather than undergo a hearing on the ticket fixing and lying charges. Pretty pathetic hire there Vince, but just par for the course for you.

Check out Delaroche on the JQC website at:

    http://www.floridasupremecourt.org/pub_info/jqc.shtml

Click on the JQC archives link in the middle of the page and it will bring you to a list of judges who were being disciplined. Delaroche is on the list and if you click on his docket number, 06-1376, you'll see a list of filings in the case and the charges against Delaroche, including lying under oath before the commission as well as his decision to resign his judgeship.

At least VInce was smart enough to get rid of Gregg Brennan when he did. Worst lawyer PBA has EVER had. So glad he's gone!

Yeah, and he was dumb enough to hire back Maria Kazouris, who was so stupid she'd lose grievances because she couldn't keep track of the days in which to file them. He was also dumb enough to hire Adam Alvarez, who was the dumbest thing on two legs, and I'm including chimpanzees, gorillas and Little Scotty because all of them occasionally walk on two legs. Ask Katie Bash or Vicki Peppin how great Alvarez was. I think both of them are cleaning toilets somewhere after Alvarez couldn't get them their jobs back. Vince was stupid enough to hire Val Shealey, who actually made a living suing cops for alleged police misconduct and harassment, but who'd never even read a collective baragaining agreement, let alone negotiated one. Great move Vince! Geez..and let's not for get the moldy oldies like Desmond Jordan, who if you could get him on the phone would tell you that your grievances never had any merit because he was too lazy to do any work. Mike Hines, that fat goof who couldn't find his ass with both hands and a map and Hal Johnson to point him in the right direction.

And let's not forget the stellar hiring decisions Vince Champion made for executive director. Number one, he kept that fat, child molesting son of a ***** McGuire around for far too long, and after McGuire finally got caught, he hired Nate Ingram who was so dumb he couldn't figure out which hand to wipe his ass with, and now his puppet Johnny Bingham who's sole qualification for the job is that he's Vince's buddy. Pathetic!

    Re: PBA's Lousy Representation

Good post, but you also left out Bernie Feldman. Vince hired him as an attorney, apparently without checking on his background, because if he would he'd have found out that Feldman has been disbarred in Michigan. And Vince Champion hired him anyway! And Feldman was like all the rest, a complete incompetent...but who's the bigger incompetent, the lawyer or the guy who hired him in the first place? Feldman wound up getting disbarred in Florida due to his disbarment in Michigan and once again Vince Champion had to scrounge around for yet another attorney to hire, and pulled one out of the reject bin by hiring Mike Hines.

Yeah, the same Mike Hines who represented that child molester Pat McGuire in McGuire's suit against the PBA for unlawful termination. A suit the PBA wound up settling after giving it to Kazouris because they fired Cindy Elton's husband, who was a board certified civil trial lawyer. Yet another brilliant move by Vince Champion!

So how about it Oviedo? Getting pretty lonley at the Coastal Florida PBA isn't it? The Coastal Florida PBA, a union so pathetic they don't even represent the two largest police agencies in their own county where they're headquartered: Volusia Co. SO and Daytona Beach PD. Instead, they represent the little scraps, like Holly Hill PD, Port Orange PD and of course, Vince's own Ormond Beach PD. Once Brevard County SO wises up and leaves the CFPBA, they'll be done. Are you going to wait around on the deck of the Titanic while it slips beneath the waves, or are you going to jump into a lifeboat...the Fraternal Order of Police!
