    Use Caution

Proceed with caution and don't end up like the BSO mergers.

The sheriff has undercharged for contracts. Who will pay the bill?

For those that think a merger is going to be golden need to seriously think this one out.

Most of these cops want SO because of benefits, take home cars, and more pay. There aren't any guarantees.

You may not have some of those perks you expected. The Sheriff is going to make some serious cuts.

Yea but the Palm Beach Sheriff has not undercharged for contracts. Jenne did in Broward and is why he is in jail. Still with the Sheriff you'll get better service than what you're getting now and better benefits. Who knows what's going to happen, but things are getting tight around the state. The Broward Sheriff will have to cover the cost, but Palm Beach Sheriff charges what it actually cost to police a city. Broward is still cheaper than having your own city police dept. No agency is safe right now and the next couple of years is going to hard on everyone.

It obvious what side you're on. Broward has nothing to do with Palm Beach. Broward actually has a county tax that that pays for BSO. Palm Beach has a MTSU for fire rescue. If Lake Worth continues trying to run all their own departments they will end up unincorporated.

don't be so quick to think the grass is greener over here. It is NOW, but will not be for long as the recession kicks in to gear. Our pay increases are over for a very long time

The SO you want won't be the same when you merge. A lot of cuts and some forseeable changes with some of the perks we have now. I am constantly seeing it. Good luck!

PLEASE. PBSO will continue to get a pay raise, maybe not much but will always get something. Furthermore, contract cities such as Royal Palm and Wellington never get the cuts. You are clueless about what happens in mergers. The city pays for what they want, and they Sheriff provides. City contracts are the last to see cuts.

i wonder what they'll post now. The palm beach post got it wrong or made this up? The Lake Worth merger isn't going to go through. Best of luck next year.
