Lt. Chuck Lesaltato of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office agrees: "Vehicle break-ins have been sporadic, but they have increased."

"It absolutely amazes me that people will park a $30,000 vehicle in their driveway and fill their garage with seemingly worthless junk."

Leaving your vehicle unlocked or your valuables in plain view is no excuse for the criminal element, but we should do what we can to protect our property.
