OAKLAND, Fla. -- Oakland, a small city in Central Florida in Orange County, is considering a 100-gallon-per-person daily limit on water for its residents, due to rapid growth.

The proposal comes days after the Orange County mayor said that if the county does not have a 40 percent reduction in water use, then the aquifer will not have enough water to sustain the county.

"I don't understand why they are allowing them to still build if the water supply is not there," Oakland resident Susan said.

"If the growth stops today and we don't build another house, you're still going to have a water problem," Commissioner Welch said.
