    Major Lanier - RIP

    Glenard E. Lanier, age 93, died after a stroke on February 14, 2008, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Glenard Lanier was appointed to the MPDC on October 1, 1940, transferred to the White House Police on April 1, 1942 and retired from the Executive Protective Service on June 1, 1970 at the rank of Major. Glenard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances S. Lanier.

    RIP Major. What a career this gentleman had. He must have seen so much history unfold during his 28 years at the White House, and I'm sure he was involved in saving President Truman's life during the Blair House assault. Rest In Peace Major Lanier, you served your country well.
