    God Rest

    Our thoughts and prayers go to Ralph Gell's family today. We have not only lost a great friend, but a brother!!! God Bless you, and your family!!! :cry:

    He was the officer who ran the St. Pete police boat a few years back. We used to tarpon fish together in tampa bay.

    Yes he was a bit gruff but that was the man he was and he kissed no one's backside. He was a man's man and respected for it. God ain't quite sure what to make of him right about now I'll bet. In fact, I'll bet he's already asked God for the 12 virgins and gave small pox to the Terrorists instead!

    Ralph was as Politically IN-Correct as you can get ~ but he was an honest man who wouldn't put up with SPPD's crap and would tell them so ~ to their face. I, for one will miss him. Especially for his fishing reports. Thanx ~ Ralph for all the tips over the years !

    Ralph was a good 'ol boy. He was a natural-born world shaker. If push came to shove you'd want him on your side. He worked to make money to go fishing. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. As an FTO 25 years ago he'd call you a mullethead if you were, but give you praise away from anyone's ears when he thought you deserved it. He never liked to show his soft side. He was also quick to laugh.

    The best to his loved ones.

    Ralph L. Gell
    GELL, Ralph L. 54 a native of St. Petersburg, FL died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2007 under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Mr. Gell retired from the St. Petersburg Police Department after 33 years of service where he served as a Marine Officer. He was also an avid fisherman. Aboard his boat, the G-Force, Mr. Gell enjoyed fishing for a variety of species including Tarpon, King Mackerel, and Grouper. With Family and friends at his side, Mr. Gell competed successfully in many fishing tournaments and events. He was a longtime member of the Old Salt Fishing Club and never hesitated to take a person out on the water to share an adventure doing what he loved the most. Survivors include Debra Gell; son Jason E. Gell; parents Gene and Sharlene Gell and brother Kurt Gell. The family will receive guests at 10 am with "Gone Fishin" services beginning at 11 am, Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at the Gee & Sorensen Funeral Home, 3180 30th Ave. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33713. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested in Ralph's name to the Old Salt Fishing Club, P.O. Box 8564, Madiera Beach, FL 33738. We Love You Ralph, you'll always be in our hearts.
