And when does ot kick in. I hear that some of the Sheriff's offices in the south work 43 hours and don't get ot untill after two weeks work period.

I don't work for JSO, but they work 11.5-hour shifts. They work a 5/5 schedule, meaning you work 5 days on and have 5 days off. There is tons of OT and you get OT anytime you are not scheduled to work or stay over shift. I work for a Sheriff's Office in the South and it's just like Jacksonville, no limit. Our pay periods are every two weeks, but don't have to work two weeks to get it. We get paid for anytime we are not scheduled to work. Good Luck. By the way, stay away from FHP, I think I saw you posting on their site as well. Look at big Sheriff's Offices like Palm Beach, Broward, Martin, or good-sized Sheriff's Office, or bigger cities. JSO is a great place to work.
