Why does NYPD have an age limit on applicants?
My wife got a promotion in her company which
requires us to move to New York City. It's all fine
and I'm all for it. But I've been a cop in Florida for
26 years. I am eligible for retirement but I'm 45
years old. Too old for NYPD.

In Florida there is no age limit for the job. You can start
a new career in law enforcement after you retired from
any job. I know a guy who just started and he is my
age never been a cop before. But New York has that
age limit.

I wanted to start my application process before we move in January
but I don't qualify even though I have 26 years of experience.

Im a former NYPD Officer. They have age limits because it is a civil service position. You basically have to take a test to see if you get hired!!
