No its not you, we definatley have dispatchers that are going to get someone killed one day. The quality has definately changed, you can thank the new parking manager / ex-PSCU manager for that. For you see more then one disptacther was cut on her own after several recommedations that they should not be there. Some of them clearly cannot handle the radio and are competelye lost when dispatching. Lets just say we are screwed the day we lose Jessica, Uwezo, Kelly, Mary C, and Josh cause all the other ones arent really capable for much...............definatly not dispaching. And as long as the PSCU continues to promote Managers and Supervisors who cannot perform the basic functions they supervise and never will learn or attempt to, the problems up there will never change........

when you have managers who only want bodies...that's quanity not quality this is what you end up with...when management knew 5 people were leaving nothing was done to replace them and the burden fell on the one's who were left..overworked and stressed beyond means. Still dispatchers leave and are not replaced and nothing is done to make the working conditions any better. In the past the personnel shortages were
sugar coated and the 4th fl was told there were no shortages, when in reality PSCU was down 20 people or more. The new dispatchers either demote or end up quiting..and that's after time has been spent training in a classroom and on the floor. But again the dispatcher's opinon doesn't count when trainees should not be kept, so you get what you get..sorry

    MBPD / 911/CID

The current staffing issues facing our Communications 911 staff is nothing new at MBPD. Overworked, under paid, and not appreciated has always been the story there. This is why Captains are rotated in and out of there ASAP, none want to correct whats wrong there. Allowing Carra to leave was just the latest in mistakes made there. Look around the department and not just 911, most employees that were great at their jobs have gotten fed up and are doing thing just to survive.

Another great example is CID, the current management there were never detectives and have never investigated a case. How can they supervise one, yet alone be in charge of an entire investigative division.

Just wait until we really get a big name celeberty who gets killed or is a suspect and MBPD is on CNN, etc , we will be the laughing stock of the world and take the heat off the Boulder, Co. Police. Yes, we do have enough big shots that visit our city, just look at the past week. Were not even talking about the current mess between the A/ MAJOR B/S ( catchie ha ) , Lt, OR SGT. Just think about the headlines, another O.J. Simpson type police scandal where the police look foolish.

Someone better wake up and run this place like a professionally run agency before it to late.

watching you hit the nail on the head in ref to Cara..because she had dispatched she knew what the job entailed, esp when the dispatchers get forced (in most cases 10-15 min notice). She tried to make PSCU a better place, but the powers to be saw she was well liked and had a brain, so they forced her out..I really enjoyed working with her, she was fair and didn't play games.
