Chief has managed to survive for so long. Her bad character, work ethic, bringing a dog to work, not just any dog but an ugly ass poodle and driving her take home all the way down to Marco Island. Can we finally end this madness now that Barwin is out of the picture? Please? We’re all looking at you deputy city manager.

Hey genius there is nothing "actionable" about her antics. The dog, the car, her use of city tax payer dollars to do WHATEVER she wants when she wants all subject to her working agreement under TB. The Unions haven't filed any grievances or complaints as of today correct? Cause there's no reason to. Are there any written record of complaints that TB or the City has received on her over the last 8 years? NOPE. Any record of Union grievances, or votes of no confidence? NOPE. If there were any we'd already read about them in the paper. "Everyone is too terrified of her trying to ruin them if they say anything, no one will say a word" Seems like there's thousands of disgruntled comments on this site so that's a load of garbage. There needs to be a complaint. A complaint that has to have FACTS that can be verified or witnesses that can be interviewed about her actually doing something wrong. NONE of which you have. It cannot just be "I don't like her, waaaaahhhh." Going to the news with BS complaints about people being "mean" is just that... a steamy pile of BS. She is going to pick people for promotion that follow her vision, that she wants. It has nothing to do with what you want or who you like.
How many times have we heard that some massive article is gonna be written...and nothing? Nothing at all...crickets...cause nobody cares and there's nothing to write about. The Herald and LW talk a big game but they have NOTHING on the Chief. LW makes petty little public records requests that never amount to anything. A weak story here and there, nothing that can't be spun around by the Chief to a positive. He threatens attack pieces on good SPD employees to try and discredit them. Weak and childish is the norm at the Herald. LW I haven't seen that big story yet, whats the deal? Maybe cause you have never found anything..... never will, cause there's nothing to any of it. Just discontent babies. Investigative journalism Sarasota style...take a shot and run and hide to see if anything happens, which it WON'T, cause there's nothing there to see. LW should redirect his childish efforts, maybe people wouldn't think his "newspaper" was such a joke.

Has anyone looked into the rumors about the complaints filed on the chief? Conduct unbecoming, not treating citizens with respect, joking about mentally handicapped people in front of staff?
What is the mechanism to start allowing people to talk with HR about what is happening at the PD like they did with at the Clerks Office? The PD has become very definition of a hostile working environment.
Anyone is free to go to HR and voice concerns or complaints. Not sure what their process is after that. But yeah it would be nice if someone had the cajones to make a complaint. Thats why we are stuck with her. No one will. Everyone is peterified of the woman.
Hard not to be petrified when she has gotten away with being as miserable, nasty, and vindictive as she has for so long. In a way it’s really funny. The city hires an outside chief to “fix” us and their pick has dragged the agency down to its lowest point ever. At least under Abbott and Holloway, people were more or less happy. There wasnt a blanket of fear and misery over everything. Under dipino, that’s all we know. To the old timers seeing whaT dipino has done to the agency is heartbreaking. Go talk to one who was here pre-dipino.
Her making DK a captain just made things worse. He is just like her which is why she promoted him. Mean, vindictive, and closed minded. He will only do what he thinks she wants In his quest to make deputy chief. No judgement, no thinking about the situation....wham off with their heads. Write em up!!!!!! Look at me chief, this is what you wanted right??? Great guy for a captain huh. How many complaints does he have on him since making captain?? When is the last time you have heard of a captain getting complaints filed on them From officers?? Try never. And dipino just sweeps them under the carpet.
Maybe someday dipino will finally cross a line she can’t come back from. We are all praying that day comes soon.

So she sent a department wide apology email today. I honestly don’t care about her comment either way. It’s shit we cops say to other cops and let’s be honest, we say way worse things to each other within our agency “family.” I don’t think it was so “egregious” a comment in the grand scope of things. BUT, being that she panders to petty ass shit and created a stage where little things like this are responded with discipline, I expect her to swallow the medicine she has been dishing out for so long.

I get it chief. I probably would have said something like what you said...and of course I would have been in IA and mandated sensitivity training to say the least. Take the medicine with a smile and thank yourself for the environment you created.

The truth of her horrid so called leadership is coming out. Everyone is starting to openly speak up now and voice how much they can't stand you as chief. This is not one or two people, it is the overwhelming majority of the officers. Take the train chief, its time for you to go.

Hopefully they do not replace her with some good old boy that has been in the SPD for centuries. Her apology was not sincere. However, she has poked the good old boys and got rid of few. What Sarasota does not need is another good old boy. With their good old boy attitude and ego.
If not a good ol' boy then what would you suggest? She was not a good ol' boy. She was from Maryland. I think a local person is much better but Lord make sure Tom Knightmare is NOT on that list. He has proven to the employees of the SO that he and Dippy are cut from the same cloth.
I am very sorry you folks had to go through it. Even today 8 years after she left OC many are cheering her demise in Sarasota. We secretly suffered with you though there was not much more we could do, we sure did not want her back. And as you can guess the ones who kissed her butt are defending her, as will be the same for you. The problem is in OC she promoted many to positions FAR above their competency. She institutionalized the "Do unto others before they can do unto you" theory of management. And it is better if you can throw someone under the bus to save you ass, if they want to keep their job they will fall on their sword for me.
So be happy for this day, her reign of terror on you is over, but the effect of the people she promoted who should not only not be promoted but probably shouldn't be cops will have long lasting effects, unless they can see the light.
Please hear me out on this. You all every one of you need counseling because of the abusive relationship you have just gotten out of. You have lived in fear not of the street but what can be done to you for no reason. You walked on egg shells for the last 8 years. You have forgotten what normal is like. Sound familiar? You would recommend the same for any abused spouse. Think about it.

The above is exactly what we lived through. No one should have to work under those conditions. We will move forward and never let someone like her back in these doors.

You can stick it! You know nothing! There were complaints and grievances filed. She brought moral to the lowest point in over 25 years, blatantly discriminated against male officers, and cost tax payers thousands by unjustly firing people, nearly all men just to have it unfounded in court and thankfully those officers got their jobs back. She got what she deserved and the department and moral have made a 180! Karma!!
