Any insight on who our next investigators will be?
Ruben Gardner might jump over. More Inv. positions will soon be open.
Regarding your investigator 2 positions, what are their normal duties?
I am part of DEP and if all goes as predicted, we will all be part of FWC soon.

Hey DEP guy. Sorry for the idiot comment above. We have one or two of those here.
There are at least three Investigator positions open and they are going to re announce them and re interview for them. AG Law Investigators work a variety of offences from wildland arson to white collar consumer crime. The upcoming consolidations do not effect them other than they will be busy working the extra fire cases that the CARL Officers used to help them with. The CARL Officers will be joining you at FWC. Hope this helps.
Again, forgive the jerk above.
Well I appreciate that. Are these positions usually filled internally or does the outside, qualified person have a shot. Just looking for an honest answer here. Thanks
Usually these positions are filled internally with select applicants being chosen based on their interview and exam scores which determine their ranking on our dept's promotional list every year. However, due to no passing scores , the positions advertised right now on People First are open competitive so yes an outside qualified person definitely has a good shot right now.Quote:

Is anyone going to file a grievance regarding how the ones interviewed were never treated respectfully and no one was even given notice that they were not selected? The powers that be should know that we shouldn't burn our own just so that the captain can get his buddy in the position. This is the only chance that many of us will get to promote.
It was because they sucked, how do you grieve sucking?Quote:

Forest Cops are going, Dry (fire) season coming. Shortage of Investigators, Hmmm
Listen up Tallahasee because you really need to hear this. AG Law Officers have lost the ability to go to CARL or K9 or Vacis or Aqua culture and now it seems like they can not even be Investigators. Meanwhile they work for the lowest LEO pay in the State ( maybe the Nation? ). They do a good job and get no respect not even from our own Admin. Tallahasee gets well paid to fix this and even gets raises when the officers have not had a raise in over six years. Truth, the Obama stimulous has turned the economic tide and things are getting better in the real world. Soon you will not be able to smugly say 'you are just lucky to have jobs'. With low pay, benefits cuts, no chance to promote within. How long do you think you will be able to retain employees let alone attract new hires.
Either fix this or retire. Or scrap OALE and return to the road guard system. Then when a weapon of mass destruction comes into Florida in a semi trailer the Government can freak out and spend millions to create a Homeland Security Agency to guard the Florida peninsula . They can call it something like ...OALE. Or they could just fix the one they already have.
It was because they sucked, how do you grieve sucking? ///
I don't know all of them. But I do know that they all did not suck. OALE neds to promote from within.
no one was even given notice that they were not selected? ///
Does this surprise you ? No one in OALE communicates with each other. Not even the Admin. When you want to find out what is going on in OALE, you come here.
This sounds like a plug for that as$hole Obama. Four more years of hime and there will be no America.Quote:

Yes, because everything that's wrong in this country just got that way in the last 4 years, right Guest? WRONG.. And that's President Obama to you. If narrow minded uneducated people like you continue to exist and be created into the world then THAT will be the downfall of America.
First dump Obama. Then dump public service unions. Then fire fat lazy Cops. Last, get rid of creme filled fat retirement pensions for government employees.
Let's get to work.
You guys have got to stop thinking so party oriented. I don't care who you vote for, but try to look at the issues and not only let one source (fox news, cnn, whatever) tell you what to think.
If it was Obama vs. Rick Scott would you still be towing the republican line?
If it was Obama vs. Rick Scott would you still be towing the republican line?///
Not only no. but Hell No ! My Republican Party has let me so far down that I don't think there is any farther down to go.
Listen up cry babies, If you're not on the promotional list, they don't have to promote you to investigations so get off your azz, study and take the test. The Inv. Lt's are crying because they gotta train people from the ramp. They want to hire people from real agencies that can hit the ground running with little training on how to do real police work. Ramp folks that never worked anywhere else just aint gonna make it on their own. The word is out and the brass agreed to it.
Now fire away at this post if you like, but its the truth. Hold their feet to the fire, make them earn their Lt's pay and force them to promote from within.
Now lets get to work............................
But wise not so much. Several of the current Investigators are from the ramp. I can name at least three that Investigations did not want that are now doing a great job. Give our guys a chance Lt. or Capt. , then if they can not cut it, send them back to the ramp with no hard feelings. If they can not laterally transfer, can not promote and never get a pay raise. And are getting paid less than any other agency. Why in the hell would anyone come here. What you are basically saying is that we suck and we better just shut up and take it. You do sound like the 'lets get to work' boy. If you are wise then I will be happy to hang out with the dumb guys.
real agencies that can hit the ground running with little training on how to do real police work. ///
Most "Real Police" do not consider consumer complaints to be real police work.
That why AG is left to do it. Oh great old and wise one.
So have the Investigator positions been filled, interviews set up/conducted. It's been awful quiet around here lately? Any helpful info?
They have not been filled and there will be at least one more open position soon.
Why are there so many openings and no actions on the openings? Are they not good jobs to have? Do they have to offer them up internally before the public can put in for them?
Why are there so many openings and no actions on the openings? Are they not good jobs to have? ///
Opennings come from promotions, attrition, transfers etc. They are good jobs but not everybody's cup o tea. They are advertised internally first then if not filled then they are advertised to all. The debate in here is whether or not AG Law Officers were given a fair chance this last go around. Personally, I think one or more of the open positions should have been filled in house. But I am just a POS. peon and my opinion does not count. My wife says she respects my opinion but I don't understand the rolling her eyes thing when she says it .
word from the palace is that we officially lost the investigator spots. im sure we'll hear more soon maybe at inservice. soon it will be bodies and not just empty positions.Quote:

The Investigator positions are not gone. Big boobs er ..red's position yes. Investigators no. Change your handle from inside scoop to pooper scooper.
Hey Headsup - take it outta your butt - you don't know jack. Inv positions ARE gone. Better than bodies I guess.
betcha $$$ 10,000 dollars that all open Investigator positions will be filled.
They are making some lame backroom deal with dollars being given up in return they'll keep the Investigators slots so it seems. It's smoke and mirrors, they but things on the block just to pressure a side deal so, there ya go all you none investigator test passing people. You might get a chance after all.Quote:

News Flash . The Investigator positions are frozen but not (yet) eliminated. Also the BILL to move CARL to FWC has passed and is just waiting for Rick's signature.
Now get back to work.
With CARL being moved what does that leave you all with? Just the inspection stations and unfair and deceptive trade practice investigations?

Yes, thats all thats left. And if the investigator positions are not filled then you have Lt. supervisors with as little as two people under their command. Waste of money ? AG Law needs to poop or get of the pot. If we are not worth having around then the AG Inspection Stations should go back to being armed security 'Road guards' which is what their pay indicates anyhow. Then send AG Investigations to FDLE where half of them can work Fires and AG crimes and the other half can work consumer complaints. Most administrative and support positions can be cut like DEP. I do not advocate this but if we are going to keep cutting positions and services then this seems to be the logical conclussion.
