This Group of PBA management is ridiculous. Unlike the old members that held department chiefs in check per the contract. These clowns there now is part of the circus. They are not acknowledging or doing anything for LEO’s except take your dues. Time for a perk election and new union. These clowns even supported Toney for sheriff. Nothing will change within the agency until you standup and switch unions like Hallandale and others are planning to do this year.
Why would you ever have a complete stranger negotiate your salary. The PBA does not have a dog in the fight and as such there is no motivation for them to fight when it comes to contracts and our financial incomes.
Ask your friends and family in law enforcement why they’re agency left the PBA or what there opinion is of the PBA if they still have it. The answer you will get is steady across the board.........lack luster. The second biggest agency in the country (BSO) among other left the PBA for what reason; it wasn’t because the PBA was doing a good job.
The PBA is good at 3 things as far as I am concerned:
(1) Providing false and misinformation when it comes to having an attorney during administrative internal affairs investigations.
(2) providing misinformation to members about being told they will have an attorney in the event of being divorced. Yes you will have an attorney for a divorce but only if it’s uncontested. Which means your soon to be Ex wife agrees to how you split the assets and monthly payments (which will never happens)
(3) Providing free food on a regular basis.
As of today, you have only heard one loud voice in the room which is the PBA. Why is this being pushed so hard by one side by the same couple of people. Question the narrative with WHY
At the end of the day, I encourage you to conduct your own research and draw your own conclusions of what is best for you and the membership. Question the individuals that are pushing the PBA when they were previously in charge of the FOP. Determine if the higher monthly payment is worth it. Talk to the FOP board to determine what is factual and what is not.
Lastly, determine if it’s worth the risk of leaving the known to switch to the unknown. The future is in the memberships hands.
