OFF DUTY CITY OFFICER ALMOST FIRES ON DEP CHECKING A SIG 80

Anyone hear about an off duty City? officer who was doing private security and who almost committed friendly fire on a north side deputy who was checking out a signal 80?

Yeah I heard about it!! The idiot Deputy who's name is Ives was rattling on a door on a private gated property thats closed for construction where it is known there is private security. Not only is their NO Phone Service there, the signal 80 was NOT at that residence (empty model home) where the deputy was creeping around. Oh yeah one more thing that Ives should be thanking his lucky stars because he was nearly in the past tense from the way I hear it!!??

Now lets see, he was dispatched to a sig-80 that is a home under construction, right? He exited his car to check on the sig-80 and was checking for any unsecured doors, right? Could there be a working phone at the construction site; let me answer that, YES. So what was the problem here other then you think you are better then the deputy that appeared to be doing his job?
I'm sure he did not know that there was an off duty officer working off duty security in the County. (I didn't think they were allowed)!

I heard that the deputy thought the off duty police/security officer was a possible burglar due to this professional police officer/security guard wearing only flipflops and dirty shirt and shorts while he was working this detail.

OK, HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED. IVES RESPONDED TO A SIG 80 IN NORTH SIDE. IVES WAS CLEARING THE MODEL HOME IS WAS IN. THE HOME WAS BLACKED OUT BOTH WAYS IN AND OUT. I HEARD SOMEONE WALK PAST A WINDOW IN THE ROOM I WAS IN. AFTER IVES PASS BY THE WINDOW I JUMPED UP AND TOOK A POSITION IN THE ROOM I WAS IN BECAUSE I THOUGHT THIS WAS SOME ONE COMMING TO SIG 21 THE HOUSE. WE MADE CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER, IDENTIFIED EACHOTHER AND ALL WAS GOOD. IVES DID WHAT EVER ANY TRAINED DEPUTY WOULD. I DID MY JOB AS WELL. I THOUGHT UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCE EVERY ONE INVOLVED ACTED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNOR. THIS IS FOR EVERYONE WHO WAS NOT THERE BUT LIKES TO POST A COMMENT. OH, BY THE WAY THE SHIRT WAS CLEAN. AND THE FLIP FLOPS ARE FOR NOT TRACKING UP A HALF A MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE. THE BOOTS WERE AT THE DOOR WAY.

Eric, dont stoop to the Deputy do nothing core value's mentality nonsense. These people are the same ones who have to ask permission before they turn on their light's or siren's. It's a miracle these guy's havent been injured or killed waiting for permission to break leather when they are in serious danger. Now back to the model home issue. Was the Deputy there in a lawful capacity, yes absolutely do they know their is a "security" person there once again YES they should. Why should they you ask??, well thats real simple as well. MCSO has been notified well in advance that Forrest Creek is staffed on a nightly basis 7 day's a week (so this stuff doesnt happen). If the powers that be are not conveying that fact to the road Deputy, well then shame on them. If I am 97 an alarmed home that doesnt evem have an address yet, yes thats right NO ADDRESS other than a lot number and better yet NO PHONE SERVICE, your damn right I am going to be on the alert when someone is shaking a door as if they are attempting to gain entry. To take it even a step further this property is a CLOSED and GATED construction site so I would think the Deputy upon finding their way in had to see that their was the night security's on site vehicle??? Did a 28 get run?? or do you just rush the house??? What happens next time when the family that lives in completed home there has a sig 80??? Let's all use some common sense, slow down and think this stuff through before we have dead cop's either on duty or off duty.

#1 - Several deputies do ask permision to run priority. #2 - your most likely one of them as the off duty city officer referred to here is BBPD not BPD

Secondly, if you're off duty at an empty house in the "COUNTY", do us a favor and call our communications center and alert them of the times you'll be there, before each and every shift.
You know that information doesn't always make it to the ones handling the "shyt" in the street. It's better to do this than to act like an arse on here later, or attend a funeral due to friendly fire. You're accountable for your own actions, remember that. It would have been a complete "fugg up" if the shyt would have been bad. The one in the home that was armed would have been found at fault, not the cop showing up doing his job. You carry a gun off duty, you have a certain amount of liability to notify a working uniform of your whereabouts, before you both get into a bad situation. The uniform in most cases will be the one found in the right. JFYI!

First time Author: I have been reading this forum for quite some time now and I have come to the realization that we will never be were we should be if the citizens of Manatee County are reading any of this and the County Commissioners. You all are posting issues that should never be brought to the public’s attention. How can we be taken serious when we ask for raises, new equipment, more deputies or anything that we really need. Just by reading this forum I wouldn’t give most of you a gun because of the maturity level you are showing on this site. Unfortunately you are young and have a pulse so there you go, you are qualified. Good luck to all of you and I hope our supervisors are not on this partaking in such childish behavior.
