Just so everyone knows, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents law enforcement officers. This is not new, just not very well known. The Teamsters will agressively represent it's members. Teamsters Local 385, http://www.local385.org has represented police officers and deputy sheriff's for well over ten years. Local 385 employs active and retired law enforcement officers as business agents to better represent it's members. These business agents have considerable experience in representing officers/deputies in internal affairs investigations and the disciplinary process. If your agency is not represented, or you are considering making a change, please contact the Teamsters. Teamsters has a hundred year history of representing members to improve wages, hours, and working conditions, no other union can say that.

FOP is taking our money and doing nothing. Paul Johns did a shitty job representing us. Now FOP is sending out fliers wanting us to pay them to educate us to negotiate our own contract? HHHHMMMMM, sounds fishy, especially since they want to increase our dues. Based on Paul's performance we are paying too much. Teamsters represent so we don't have to put our careers on the line. Paul doesn't want to put his on the line, so he folds whenever the city cancels or postpones meetings. Teamsters would not allow this. We have always had to meet on the cities terms, screw that, Teamsters would let them know how and when we were meeting. They would set days up far in advance so those of us who wanted to attend could make arrangements. The city did their best to cancel and reschedule to make it hard for us to show up. FOP is a waste of money, Teamsters are true representation.

Paul was there for quite a few years as I recall, so someone must have voted him in. If he was doing such a crummy job you should have had a stronger voice then and replaced him.

I'm a retired cop and never heard of a Teamsters Union for LEO's until recently. If they were that strong and wanted to represent us in years past then why didn't they speak up? We were listening. We needed help. They either weren't around or they weren't interested in our cause, but now it's Paul John's fault?

Go back to sleep. If the Teamster's was available 10 years ago they should have let us known then. They didn't. Don't criticize Paul for what he did. They represent IAs and disciplinary processes? Maybe you should have taken Paul's lead and you wouldn't have needed them in the first place.

You are an embarrassment. The FOP bargaining team did a good job negotiating contracts. I'm betting that you are one of the whiny losers who sat back and took no part of the process and then cried like a schoolgirl when you didn't get exactly what you wanted.

If you aren't happy about the staus quo then stop paying dues, get the hell out and join a department represented by teamsters. Sniveling and whining on a message board about getting jobbed by the FOP will get you squat.
